SMALL BUT SERIOUS BELT SANDER

OK - I know it's not the biggest sander in the line.  I've got small screwdrivers and big ones.  I like to match the tool size to the job at hand.

This belt sander is ideal for working down the rough edges on my cabinet boxes.  I use it all the time and because of of the unique flip front design I can reach into areas my bigger sanders can't.  I also like the adjustable handle.  This handle can be set to any one of three different angles so you can find the optimum holding position.

One click of the belt release lever make changing sanding belts a snap and the self tracking adjustment lets you easily fine tune the belts path through the sander.  All in all, I think this is the best 3 inch belt sander I've ever used.  I would have given it a five except the dust collection port is hard to get into to clean out if the sander ever gets clogged up.

Pick yours up today.  You'll thank me tomorrow!

Small projects only !!!
When i bought this sander i expected allot more. The first time i used it the belt broke ( not the sanders fault) and permanently clogged the exhaust port. no way to clean it out. Lacks power and speed. The belt needs constant adjustment. The nose cover that flips up is very nice for getting in tough spots. Fine for a bird house project or something like that. Hard to find a good sander without paying an arm and leg. This one is close but no cigar.

Sands great - dust collector fails

Got this to  do some patio work, palm sander just didn't cut it!  This sander is way more powerful and the shape makes it easy to use in tight spots. BUT!!!!  It was not collecting ANY dust at all, none - either through the bag or connected shopvac.  I took it to the store to ask them about it, they replaced the unit. It seemed to collect most of the dust for a few minutes through the shopvac, then in a few minutes later starting blowing A LOT of saw dust again. I tried the bag, NONE was going in it.   I am using it with course paper on old wood - perhaps it just got overloaded and failed in some way.  I could not see any blockage - there is no way to access the duct. So, 2 failed in minutes - unfortunately I will have to return this one unless someone has a suggestion.

3x21 sander

bought this sander about three years ago, it has performed well so far. but i would not recommend using it for massive workloads because i'm not confident it will handle the pressure. so for the price its good value(got mine for $40 due to a price tag error).

Sold as B/D and garbage

Purchased exact same model under Black and Decker name at **********. this was the worst piece of garbage I ever used. Belt tracking has very very dangerous flaw allowing belt to ride into plastic housing damaging  casing. Two belts flew off of the sander actually shot off sander. Glad I wore safety googles.  Returned sander and looked at one on display that one had same abrasion marks on plastic housing as mine  had after one short use.

Dangerous, Dangerous , Dangerous stay away from this odel which is sold as B/D and Craftsman

Functional and Pwerful

This piece of equipment is a real joy to have, variable speed and a handy grip to sand with ease and finesse a variety of surfaces. I like having the ability to sand the bottom of a board without having to turn the board or position myself on the underneath side in some awkward position for the sake of sanding.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Sears 3 X 21 Belt Sander

Bought this sander and had only two days and rubber that holds belt on broke. Took back and they replacedwith new one. Had it for three days and it quit vaccuming the dust into bag. Unfortunately now all products are made in China and we the consumers suffer.

Sander did the job, narrow side for hard to reach is great

Worked well, did a great job with some heavy duty sanding and basic finishing.  Was a little bit noisy (as most sanders are).  You still have to be careful to keep the sanding belt at the right tightness, too much or too little and the sander didn't work properly.  Loved the narrow end which allowed for access to a lot of places.  So far have only used for bulk outside jobs - nothing requiring detailed finishing.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I purchased this belt sander for my birthday 4 years ago my old sand died rather bad burned up.

I purchased this belt sander for my birthday 4 years ago my old sand died rather bad burned up. I needed a new 21" sander so I bought this sander along with the lifetime warranty. I have had nothing but good work with this sander. The belt stays tracked very well and has the power needed to get the job done.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 3 x 21 in. belt sander big disappointment

We didn't own this product a day before we realized we'd have to take it back. The sand paper kept slipping off the belt, no matter how many ways we tried to make it stay on. We have a big project ahead, and need a reliable belt sander. This just won't do. We normally love Craftsman tools, but this sander is a major disappointment. Hope they fix this flaw before lowering the price any more, and have more unsatisfied customers.

Powerful, lightweight belt sander ready for the do-it-yourselfer

WOW! I purchased this belt sander for my small shop and it meets and exceeds all my expectations. A previous belt sander left a very bad taste and I had sworn to never try one again. I was never able to get the belt to remain aligned and there was not a means of adjusting the alignment. It ate up belts faster than a group of kids can go through a small bag of candy and we all know those things are not cheap. Due to the misalignment of the belt, the backside guide was completely chewed down to the point you would not know it was present had you seen it after I had used it a couple of times. This new Craftsman Belt Sander has completely changed my mind about the benefits of a small belt sander. It has an adjustment knob that keeps the belt aligned and in no way interferes with its operation. I have only had to change one belt because I accidently ran over a hidden nail in a board. I cannot say enough about its lightweight, easy to maneuver, solid construction with an extremely powerful motor expected in much larger machines. I strongly recommend this belt sander for the novice and the intermediate professional for excellent results. I am not entirely convinced it can handle the constant use or heavy duty jobs required by a professional (such as some that installs wood floors). This is an excellent buy for the price and quality.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
