For the price, you are not going to find a more complete set. I had some issues with mine in regards to having double sockets and missing sockets. I called the toll free provided on the paperwork and they sent me the missing sockets with no hassle. If I happen to break one, I'll just go to my nearest Sears and get a replacement. Buy this set, you won't regret it!!!
I bought the 299 piece set a year ago. The old 299 piece is exactly the same as this, with exception on the additional 9 extensions. Love the laser marking. All of the laser markings are on the side off one of the square drive flats, so one a socket rail, all of the laser markings are visible. They are also stamped for when the laser markings inevitably wear off. All of the sockets are made in the USA as well. No real quality issues to complain about and I received a perfect set- no duplicates or missing sizes. Though the shipping box it came in was about to explode. Another reviewer mention different tints in the sockets from various production runs. This was true with mine, but was barely noticeable, and one you start to use them all and they start to normally wear, you won't notice it at all. Awesome set, all the sockets have performed well with no issues. The 1/2" drive sockets have been exposed to several hundred ft.-lbs. of torque with no problem. Highly recommended.
I received my set, and went through each item. The quality of my Made in USA set was good. It was obvious that my set was put together of pieces from different production runs. The polish of some pieces was better on some than others. This was mostly noticeable on the inside and tops of the sockets. The dual mark sockets are nice as the laser etching was already scratched on some and will obviously not last on the most used ones for years. There were 2 mistakes in my set, and an easy call to the 800 number on the inventory list has them shipping to the house. Overall I was pleased with this purchase and if you are looking to start a tool set or just want to replace mix matched sets with a matched set, this is it.
This set is better than the 299 piece set in my opinion because all of the sockets are dual marked with both laser and stamped sizes. The laser etched only versions are great right out of the box but do wear after heavy use making them a littel hard to read. This set is a great bargain and should last a lifetime with reasonable care. I recommend this for home as well as professional users.
I bought this set in about a year ago. It was on sale and i had some Shop Your Way points to use up and a gift card from Christmas to use as well. The sockets arrived in good order for being loosely packed into bags everything was there. Everything was made in the USA. It is great to have all of the 1/4,3/8 and 1/2 inch drive sizes at your fingertips. The only criticism that i have is that. the interior finish seems a little weak and some of the sockets did have rust inside of them The old sockets that I had from the 1980's- 1990's had a good thick chrome plating. They no doubt have cut some costs in manufacturing. I am glad they they are MADE IN THE USA!
I use this set as a professional field mechanic. It has held up to my use and abuse for the last 5 months no problem. I am sure these will last me a long time. I checked every single socket when I received them and had the right amount of sockets and no doubles. Only complaint is the way it was packaged just a big box with a bunch of sockets in bags with nothing to keep them from sliding around.

I just received this set that I placed on layaway in April when it was on sale. I paid 315.99 with *************. All looks good and no rust and only saw one socket with a ding. These are dual marked with the etching and the size is also engraved around the base. All of the sockets and extensions were stamped USA. I had two duplicate sockets and one missing. Just called the number on the inventory sheet and the missing items will be shipped and arrive in 7-10 business days. This set should nicely complement a basic craftsman toolkit I have had for over 20 years. People seem complain about craftsman and the quality of their tools. I have Stanley, Husky Pro, and Craftsman mechanic tools and have had great luck with them all over the years. I have only cracked a few sockets over the years and replace a handful of ratchets. The sockets I have cracked are due to abuse and cheater bars or impact guns. At a dollar a piece it was a great buy.
One VERY nice thing about these sockets are that they are dual-marked... laser etched as well as stamped sizes on every socket. This is much better than the laser-only marked sockets (like the 299 pc set is) since there's no way you will ever rub the stamped sizes off the socket! Nice!
