Cuts the weeds
I had a 100'x50' lot with 2-3 foot weeds some very thick. It cut thru them pretty good. Hard to start at first, after the first time just prime it 3-4x and switch to pos 2 and it will start pretty easy. Don't use the precut chunks of line I bought 230 feet of 105mm line it worked good but had to change line a lot but that was because of the unusual thick weeds I had. It is heavy you will need the shoulder strap and if you have a small yard its too big. Love the fact that I don't have to use special gas as well.

4cycle trimmer
after a year the product became hard starting and would not stay running. I dropped it off at the local sears for repairs. they said the carb and internal engine was damages due to stale gas. voided my warranty. so, even after always using fuel stabalizers, draining the fuel after each use. go figure.

Works great

Does a great job on the weeds. After all the rain the weeds are growing like crazy. This will take care of them with ease.

Disappointed

I will not buy another power tool from sears. It last 13 months only. It's not worth $170.

Craftsman Weedwacker

Anything with wacker on it should be good! Seriously I've only used the tool a few times but so far its been easy to start. the long shaft makes it easy for a tall guy, there is no back strain. I love the strings vs the spool for refills and the teenager can run it too.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great expectations turned to great disappointment

I purchased this 17 days ago. It worked great the first time I used it. The second time I used it, it quit working. I tried to restart it, and the cord attached to the pull-start came off. Sadly, I returned this item to the store. There was no problem returning it. I received a full refund. Craftsman does not appear to be what it once was. So disappointing.

A big design error with this weedeater!

The problem in design is that there is an exposed bolt just above the bottom attachment around which grass and weeds get tangled. I had to stop the weedeater every couple of minutes. And sometimes it was hard to dislodge the weeds. Very frustrating. It needs some cover over the bolt, so this doesn't happen. Otherwise, this is a very powerful efficient machine. I had to return it because this design error made it useless for my application.

When can I use it?

With a garage full of Craftsman products I thought I'd replace my 12 year old 2 cycle trimmer from a "big box" store with a 4 cycle Craftsman 316.731970 w/ "Incredi-pull". Year one-OK ,but I didn't use it much. Year two- recoil start failed. Trip to store to drop off. 3 weeks later, got it back and started it twice. Recoil failed again. Back to store. Now I'm waiting to get it back again because some parts supplier made a really cheap plastic part for a pawl in the recoil mechanism. Tried to get money back and was told "it was fixed on warranty so Sears will not take it back. It has been my LAST Craftsman purchase. PS When it did start I had to wear a rag wrapped around my right fore-arm to prevent burns due to poor design of "heat shield". Do yourself a favor. Let the foreign folks that built this use it!

design defect

Dearly wanted this 4-cycle unit but the rotating neck of the hassle-free trimmer-head is too long (relatively speaking) and exposed. When you wack taller grass, grass winds around this neck and strangles the head to a stop. The neck is about 1 inch long (much longer than most comparable units). Every few minutes under the above conditions, you have to stop and pry the strangle-hold off with a screw driver. Took mine back and settled for the 27cc 2-cycle unit - not as rugged, but a much shorter neck.
