Cuts the weeds
I had a 100'x50' lot with 2-3 foot weeds some very thick. It cut thru them pretty good. Hard to start at first, after the first time just prime it 3-4x and switch to pos 2 and it will start pretty easy. Don't use the precut chunks of line I bought 230 feet of 105mm line it worked good but had to change line a lot but that was because of the unusual thick weeds I had. It is heavy you will need the shoulder strap and if you have a small yard its too big. Love the fact that I don't have to use special gas as well.

4cycle trimmer
after a year the product became hard starting and would not stay running. I dropped it off at the local sears for repairs. they said the carb and internal engine was damages due to stale gas. voided my warranty. so, even after always using fuel stabalizers, draining the fuel after each use. go figure.

Love this 4 cycle trimmer

I bought this because I was having issues with my old trimmer. I found that this was top rated on some website that I can't remember the name of at the moment. I wasn't disappointed. All of my attachments fit with no problem. It's great that you don't have to have an oil/gas mixture. That was my biggest problem with trimmers. I would mix up a bunch and not use it all in a season and it would get old and gum up the carb. This thing sounds great and it has plenty of power. It starts incredibly easy. I have a speed start and have since decided not to use it because it starts when cold on the second pull. I don't even need to go through all of the choke steps it says. I would rate it 5 stars but it's too soon to tell.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Pull starter failed twice

Bought one of these beginning of last year. 3rd use... The pull start broke. Took it in expecting a replacement... No dice... Had to send it out. "Two weeks" they said. Took over 6 weeks. Parts shortage... Worked OK through the rest of the year. This year... 3rd use, pull-starter failed again. Same thing. Appears to be a design flaw... I sent 'em an e-mail, we'll see what they say. I imagine it's out of warranty now. Trimmer has power, starts easy, trim-line easy to change. Vibration is moderate... But the continued mechanical failures make it a bad buy.

worst trimmer ever

I will be taking my Craftsman 30CC 4 cycle straight line trimmer back to store for the 5th time for repair! I have a broken pull cord for the second time. Cord has never felt right when pulling even when not broke. The other problem which has been consistent is that the engine pops when starting and puffs of smoke pour out of the housing. Then doesnt start at all. When it does run the engine misses. After each "repair" this unit works once maybe then breaks again. Over the 16 months Ive had this unit Ive been able to use it only about 20 times (I live in Florida so I need it year round). The rest of the time its broken or in the shop. I've calculated that I've spent 2.25 hours driving back and forth to the store about 5 gallons of gas and had countless moments of frustration! 2 year warranty? Its worthless!

Disappointed

I will not buy another power tool from sears. It last 13 months only. It's not worth $170.

Craftsman Weedwacker

Anything with wacker on it should be good! Seriously I've only used the tool a few times but so far its been easy to start. the long shaft makes it easy for a tall guy, there is no back strain. I love the strings vs the spool for refills and the teenager can run it too.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
