      Cuts the weeds
I had a 100'x50' lot with 2-3 foot weeds some very thick. It cut thru them pretty good. Hard to start at first, after the first time just prime it 3-4x and switch to pos 2 and it will start pretty easy. Don't use the precut chunks of line I bought 230 feet of 105mm line it worked good but had to change line a lot but that was because of the unusual thick weeds I had. It is heavy you will need the shoulder strap and if you have a small yard its too big. Love the fact that I don't have to use special gas as well.

      4cycle trimmer
after a year the product became hard starting and would not stay running. I dropped it off at the local sears for repairs. they said the carb and internal engine was damages due to stale gas. voided my warranty. so, even after always using fuel stabalizers, draining the fuel after each use. go figure.

      Junk

Had to take this down for warranty work one year after purchase, trimmer head stopped turning, 1 year later the carb goes out the day after warranty expires, and now 2 weeks after warranty the head stopped turning again, This will be last craftsman I ever own.

      Heavy, but very powerful, well-built

This unit is heavy. It's not insanely so, but most will want to use the strap. I'm sure many of the people complaining about power aren't letting it warm up; this 4-stroke engine takes MUCH longer to warm up than a 2-stroke and, like a 2-stroke, it won't run very well until it does. First time I used it, I didn't go anywhere near full throttle. There's so much torque, this thing doesn't need to rev high at all. Trust me, I've used several trimmers over the years and this is by far and away the most powerful one I've used. At 5' 10", I find that the trimming head isn't perfectly level to the ground unless I hunch down a little bit. I'm sure a lot of people don't hold it so that the trim head is perfectly level, but I always have. Going to try to use pure gasoline with this and the new Craftsman mower I bought.

      with great power comes......

I own several weed trimmers and this is by far the most explosive and powerful of the group. so much so that i highly recommend goggles and something to protect your legs( trust me). This trimmer has no issues with thick weeds and saplings and does not tend to bind up in fact this is where i use it most. The 4 cycle engine is nice and takes away the hassle of mixing fuel and oil. here i will highly suggest you buy the pure fuel offered in sears to avoid any ethanol related problems. I also have several of the attachments( pole saw and hedge trimmer ) which works wonders with this trimmer. As fas as the cons go the first thing you will notice is the weight at 14lbs this is a heavy trimmer and not my favorite to use for basic house trimming but it does come with a strap that makes life easier. Ive also noticed it does take a bit longer to warm up then my 2 cycles do and after a years use does tend to run poorly unless i wait a good 5 minutes and this is with using nothing but pure fuel in it. The string is the thickest heaviest string ive ever used (.130) and seems to last forever and is very easy to change but unfortunatly you get quite a bit of lost string with the way it works

Powerful enough to handle all the attachments properly

We had the 25cc Weedwacker for a while and realized it was really not strong enough for the polesaw attachment at all. I bought this model almost a week ago and have been using it almost daily. I used it with the universal cultivator attachment and went through a 120sqft area in about 5 minutes without struggle. Great with the edger attachment and even though I kept my curved shaft from my previous model (which does fit) I prefer the straight shaft this model offers for weed wacking. I would suggest going with the red line for most projects as the black line I can only imagine would be used for mowing down thicker ground covering, chewed up my fence in a corner where I got a little to close. I went ahead and purchased the protection plan as well as fuel stabilizer as these Ethanol fuels will destroy these smaller motors and we were previously informed if you don't use a stabilizer Sears won't cover the repairs if your carburetor gets gummed up.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Returned

I bought this product and used it once. It worked ok. I sat it in my garage floor and picked it up to use again two weeks later. When I picked it up, oil spilled out all over the floor. Four cycle engine oil was leaking from somewhere and had pooled inside the engine shroud. When I picked up the machine, it spilled. I took it back and returned it. I will not be buying another.

      excellent buy

started on first pull-worked better than my last model (also a Craftsman - but two stroke). . . runs much easier than previous models. . . not mixing gas is a big plus. . .

Runs well, but seems to run out of line quite quickly. So keep having to stop and add more line.

good quality, but weight is a tradeoff

the unit is rather heavy when using to do edging, holding in vertical position.

4 Cycle gas weed wacker is good value

Seems balanced and easy to hold. Starting is not as easy as instructions describe. Threading of new cutting lines is also not as easy as described. However, is does a good job and is light enough to be easy to handle. Like the 4-cycle engine so don't have to add oil to fuel.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
