Cuts the weeds
I had a 100'x50' lot with 2-3 foot weeds some very thick. It cut thru them pretty good. Hard to start at first, after the first time just prime it 3-4x and switch to pos 2 and it will start pretty easy. Don't use the precut chunks of line I bought 230 feet of 105mm line it worked good but had to change line a lot but that was because of the unusual thick weeds I had. It is heavy you will need the shoulder strap and if you have a small yard its too big. Love the fact that I don't have to use special gas as well.

Worked 20 minuted and wouldn't start again.
Used for 20 minues and would not start again. Followed instruction to a T. No spark, so something electrical broke. Would not recommend mainly due to waste of my time. I will return for full refund as another Craftman product has failed me. Going to ********** or ***** for a Echo, Stihl or Husky. Very disappointing.

real pain

Where to start! first of all last month I purchased a riding lawn tractor from Sears and thought that my work in the yard was decreased, wrong. The mower left me with a lot of string trimming and just my luck my seven year old trimmer quit working. When I purchased the mower I received a bunch of points or something like that to use on future purchases so I bought the mentioned line trimmer. First thing I noticed was no harness to help with the weight as I now had to go where the mower wouldn't. next was the line guard which I feel is too big and keeps me from turning the line sideways for flowerbeds. Now for the part that really turned me against this product....... the line itself, the trimmer takes a precut braided line that is approx. 12" long and feeds into the cutter wheel and does not last when trimming agains rock planters. The braided line wears down and you throw away over half of the line. In the package of line I have a couple heavier gauge braided lines so I thought I woul

Lots Of POWER

I bought this trimmer due to my Ryobi going out, now this trimmer has POWER, i am cutting through 3 foot tall weeds/brush and this thing flies right through it. I got tired of all of the cheap chineese Homelite and Ryobi Trimmers (Went through 3 in the last 2 years) and I finally forked out the $200 and bought a Quality trimmer, This thing is nice and reliable, always easy to start and runs good, If you want a trimmer that is going to last, Buy This One, i would recomend getting the shoulder strap because it is heavier than a cheap 2 stroke trimmer, but it is worth the weight and can get the job done with ease

This is an exceptional trimmer

I was a bit skeptical about this product initially because I have worked with some high end, expensive equipment like ECHO trimmers, which I love. Purchased a refurbished one from my local store on the cheap. Pros:Quiet,Powerful,Very easy to start,No prime/mixing fuel,Can buy a auto-start tool but it's really not needed,Minimal smoke ( you wont smell like an exhaust pipe after you use it),Operates at a very cool temp unlike 2 cycle which helps the engine last longer, easy to put new line on. Cons: This thing is HEAVY. Get a good harness and walk around with it a while to get a good feel for it. Other thoughts: By mistake put 40:1 in it and naturally it ran poorly but as soon as I noticed what happened I killed it it and drained the tank. A bit high octane gas and seafoam and i was 10-8. It only seems like it uses a lot of line because you can only put a limited amount on this head. Get the heavy stuff and stay away from chain link...Simple

Craftsman 30CC 4 Cycle Full Crank Straight Shaft Trimmer - Torque monster

I bought my 4 cycle 30cc straight shaft Craftsman trimmer yesterday, I put in my own sae 30 oil for break in and drained it after the first use and refilled it with a high quality sae 30 conventional oil. It runs very nicely and has plenty of torque, the straight shaft has much better balance than the curved shaft unit does. It starts very easily with the incredi-pull starting recoil, the engine runs fairly quietly but the gear box on the straight shaft can be on the noisy side. The hassle free trimming head is very easy to change out the line and is made nicely being that it's a big piece of aluminum. I would recommend the trimmer for the price, it gets the job done and does a good job.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

hard to insert new line

it's always a fight to put in a new line segment, especially the black ones. My older sears trimmer, which this one replaces, was much better in this respect. other than the line insertion being a problem it's a good tool.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
