I have had my hammer for a couple of years now and have put it to some serious work. I have welded near the place I had the hammer laying and chared the handle on two diffrent occations. I have droped it numerious times from various hieghts. Missed what I was trying to hit and the handle on it instead. All of this the hammer has went through. It may not be as handsome as it was when I bought it, but it still does the job just as it was designed to do.

Although the full 32 ounces would not be my FIRST choice weight of Ball Pein hammer, it is THE size to use when things have progressed past finesse and on to "you're coming OFF". An excellent accessory to be used with something this heavy would be the Craftsman punch and chisel holding tool (has a sort of Craftsman like the screwdriver handle), that could keep you from breaking your hand. This is a heavy duty, no nonsense tool, that all the Sears stores carry. Like all of the Craftsman ball pein hammers, this tool's balance is fantastic and it delivers a resounding blow EVERY time it strikes something.

I have several of these hammers and I have been very happy with them. The face has not mushroomed out nor has it chipped with the serious abuse that I give them at times. It also has an excellent feel (balance). The hickory handle absorbs vibrations very well, and the grip is good. The price is excellent given the warranty that goes with it. I definately recommend this hammer to anyone who needs a serious ball pein hammer.

I am on my second of these hammers. The head got loose on the first and. I brought the hammer in and it was promptly replaced. The face of these hammers has not been as hard as I had hoped, however the price and warranty on these hammers are very hard to beat. They come with a nice finish and good feel.
