Every once and a while, when you are assembling a project and you get to the glue up stage, you need clamps of all sizes in order to ensure a good, square glue up. I use craftsman clamps of various sizes and I've had real good success with these clamps when assembling projects.
These clamps are very responsive and easy to use with a quick release that allows you to readjust while you are clamping down on your project. The rubber tabs help prevent damaging the project while also providing a little extra bit of biting down as you clamp.
Sure, they may seem pricey, but ask anyone who does woodworking and they'll tell you that it's the cost of doing business and also working with excellence.

As a woodworking instructor and retired contractor, I like these clamps, but with average hand strength, these clamps can be easily overtightened and the tightening mechanism broken. When I purchased these clamps, I thought they would be covered by the standard Craftsman hand tool warrant.....Wrong...The warranty is good for only one year. However, with moderate use, they are a good clamp.

I picked up two on sale with some other items, knowing I needed a bar clamp, I was VERY surprised that this also doubles as a spreader too. Beyond that, as a bar clamp it does its job well, there is not much else I can say there, it does its job as expected.

The Craftsman 36 in bar clamp is extremely easy to use. It clamps tightly, despite the one-handed operation. It offers clamp and spreader capabilities, and changing between the two modes takes all of five seconds. They're durable too, I've used them for several projects and they still look like new.

I've used these for a number of projects for several years. I like them a lot. They are consistently reliable and very easy to position as I need them. I like the fact they have a large face and allow me to slightly bias the clamping force if I need to, e.g. make a small change to the angle of a chair leg.

Clamp Broke During 1st use, remembering that it's a Craftsman I drove 50 miles to the nearest Sears to exchange it, The Manager refused because of no reciept, the warranty is only a year and with no reciept the can't prove it's not under a year old ( you could still smell the new on it ) So Figure I'll have to drive 200 miles now to exchange a 26.99 tool.
