Overall, others give this:

Just as most of the reviews state, shelf is great but the instructions are out of control! Absolutely the worst instructions but common sense will overcome the stupidity of the way the instructions are written. Love the shelf now that it is done!

This item was just what we needed. But when we tried to put it together the nuts did not fit the bolts. The bolts were a fine thread and the nuts were a coarse thread. The shelf is still sitting in our garage because we are unable to assemble it. We will need to contact Sears to see if they can send us a new package of nuts for the product. Other wise a nice shelve for the price and free delivery was a plus.

I have bought Craftsman for many, many years because of the outstanding quality and ease of use. This shelving unit had numerous paint flaws, was difficult to assemble, poor instructions and diagrams. I have assembled industrial machinery that went together easier than this shelving unit!

Excellent shelving unit. Does not sway under pressure of large items. Bonus is that you do not have to go with the traditional Craftsman red and black color scheme.

Got this on sale at $107 which I considered good value given the units specifications. The machining and paint finish were very good and I was able to get the shelves exactly aligned in all three planes. However as previous reviews have mentioned the assembly is time consuming and requires alot of patience. The instructions are less than helpful as the text is confusing and the diagrams next to useless. I found that it was easy to join the two halves together by lying them on some carboard rather than using a second person and trying to connect them vertically as the instructions suggest. It took me around 2 hours to put this unit together, but a second unit would take only about half that time.

Overall this is a great product. It looks great, adds alot of storage, but it was extremley frustrating to put to together. The instructions were confusing and hard to follow. If the assembly and instructions were easier I would have given it 5 wrenches.

This is a beautiful shelf. It matches all my other Craftsman stuff and is as sturdy and tough as any I have seen. Man this is a lot of work to assemble! If you just need a simple cheap shelf Sears offers lots of easier options. When I was finaly done with the 88 bolts (my 6 year old counted) it looks great. They include brackets to attach it to the wall. I attached it to the wall and to the matching floor cabintes and it looks great. Something you should know. The 36 inch cabinets directly line up with the floor cabinets and look like they were made for each other. This is also true of the corner shelf that they sell. The 48 inch shelf is a different depth and is not the same as the floor cabinets.

I bought 2 of these shelves and a Craftsman 6' workbench (model #10132) since they all have the same design and look great together. All the components for the shelves were machined perfectly and I wasn't missing anything. I actually ended up with a few extra bolts in both boxes. The shelves are very sturdy, yet light enough that I can move them by myself with no problem as long as I don't have them loaded down with too much stuff. Throw in the fact that each shelf cost me under $100 because they were on sale and I couldn't be happier with them. Now for the one and only con: the assembly. The instructions were fairly vague/useless at times and I kinda had to figure it out on my own on which direction some things should be facing. You're also going to be screwing in about 90 hex bolts for each shelving unit (I think the actual number is 86). I was lucky enough to have a set of hex-bits for my 3/8" ratchet and all I can say is that if you don't have a set, go buy a set before you put this together. If you don't have a 3/8" ratchet for the hex-bits, get one of those too. You'll need it eventually anyway. Just trust me, you don't want to be doing this the hard way. It took me about 3 hours for the first shelving unit and about half that for the 2nd since I knew what I was doing by then. Don't let the assembly scare you away from buying these shelves though. It's more tedious than hard and even if it takes you all day, that's just an excuse to hang out in the garage with a cold drink or two. Once you're done, you'll have a great set of shelves that also looks great.

Be prepared for difficulty with the installation. Thankfully, this was the first of three items I put together. The other two were a BREEZE (six foot workbench and drawer section) this one was a BEAR!!! I don't know why... as it is a basic enough piece. All three pieces look GREAT together. My neighbor is TOTALLY jealous!
