39 pc. metric [TT_CarbonSteel] set includes larger size taps and dies. Hardened, precision-ground and polished [TT_CarbonSteel] surfaces make chip removal easy.

The set in the picture is NOT the one I was sent. The picture shows a high quality Made In U.S.A. set. What I received was a poor quality set made in China. I returned the unused set and was given only a partial refund. Beware of this unethical sales tactic.

I am a younger person who is looking for good tools to buy and collect over the years. When I received my metric tap set I found it was manufactured in China. The inside papers are deceptive when compared to the actual tools purchased. I have a strong preference for American made products. I feel that this kit has altered my view of Craftsman's reputation for tools made in the United States. Give us the choice to buy American! I'm returning my kit and going elsewhere.

I bought this set as a replacement for my original Craftsman set that was exposed to water and rusted without my knowledge. The original set was made in the USA and this set is made in China. The description does not tell you that. All of the handles are smaller and shorter. They weight so much less and just do not have the same "feel" as myu original set. I ordered over the internet since there was a one-day special discount and I wish I had gone to the store and touched it first. Good for average work but don't expect a professional feel.

The set is very nice to use and it is easy to find the right size tap or die as they are well organized within the storage case. I like that it comes with a thread gage as many of the metric threads are really close and without the gage I would not be sure I was looking at the right size. As another reviewer indicated, the case is a bit large, but I guess it will not get lost on the shelf or in the tool box. Overall very nice even when it is not on sale. A bargain compared to purchasing the parts separately. Tools are lightly oiled in the case for their protection.

I had never used a tap before and doing so with this kit made it easy to correct my mistake - I thought I was going to have to restart the project from scratch but re-threading the hole worked like a charm! If you're going to be using the kit a lot, don't forget to buy some sort of lubricating oil to use with it.

This is a really nice tap & die set for work. I used it the first day after I purchased it. I hope these remain sharp, but it has the Craftsman warranty. My only con is the case is a bit large for the set which affects my tool storage in the roller cabinet.
