I purchased this mini tiller one year ago and at first the engine would start, but the tines would not move. The mechanic at Sears said that it had to warm up first, so it slowly started turning the tines. After one year and 4 uses or so, the tines don't move at all anymore. It also does not till well if there is ANY vegetation present. The engine is very weak and can't cut through small tufts of grass or anything. Even if it could, the tines would get wrapped up before too long. So I use my 4 hp Briggs and Stratton edger turned on its side or a lawn mower to till the tough stuff. This thing just goes for a while and then seizes up. I actually opened up the gear box, and it's a simple mechanism with a small screw that is supposed to turn a cog that turns the tines. The small inner screw is a weak point in the system, and the hub with cog is very loose inside the box. When the inner screw engages, it pulls up on the cog and seizes the tines, so the potential for stripped gears is obvious. Very poorly and weakly built in my opinion and can't handle even a moderate tilling job. It's basically good for burying seed in already tilled soil, but in my opinion not worth it for the money, even with a 2 year warranty.
This is a powerful little tiller without dragging you all over the place. You have full control. You can adjust the depth you wish to till but be careful if you have roots in the area you're tilling. I use it for reseeding some areas of my lawn and it works great, easy start, and it does the job.
Very little assembly required. Operating instructions were easy to follow. It was easy to start. Machine is quite light, easy to handle, yet operated ruggedly when I hit roots.

I have only used the Craftsman mini tiller for two years and it starts fine but once i tip it up and try to start it dies because the tines are completely froze. Took it to our lawn mower mechanic and he recommended not taking it to Sears because it would cost more to fix it than it is worth. Expensive piece of equipment for two years of very light work! Won't make this mistake again with a Sears or Craftsman product.
