OK - I have to admit that I only recently purchased a set of these picks. I have worked with tools all my adult life (I'm 54) and never needed them before. I wasn't even sure what they were used for. But I was at the store and I did have a little extra spending money and they would look so darn good next to my professional screwdrivers.
I bought them! I was really just feeding my addiction to purchase a tool.
After about a week, I was helping my son tune up his BMW. Have you ever taken a good look under the hood of one of the M3 Roadsters? Well, let me tell you, there are wires and vacuum hoses everywhere. Not wanting to damge anything we carefully pulled the wiring harnesses out of harms way using these hooks. My son joked, that now I really do have a tool for every job.
Pick up a set - you'll use them. I promise!
Did I mention these things are big, overall length is 10 inches. The grip is comfortable, they fill your hand. The plastic packaging looks to be a good way to store them, normally I through that stuff in the trash.
It's very high quality and Made in the USA. These hooks and picks are big and stout. The only downside is that where the shaft meets the handle there is a hole where grim can get in. It would have been better for the handle to close completely around the shaft. But these are picks, not scrapers so that's not a big deal.

I thought this was going to be your regular pick set for orings and such, but these things are huge. They are more for hose disconnection and things like that.
These are Made in the USA. They are really big though. They have the grip like the Craftsman Professional screwdrivers. I like these, but I'm not exactly sure I'm going to get much use out of them. I have the mini Craftsman hook and pick set, and I use those a lot. So I got these as a big brother to the mini hook and picks, but they are really big. Any much bigger and they would be pry bars. I guess I can use them for pulling cotter pins, radiator hoses, and the like. Again, I really think these are high quality tools, just the use of them would be very specialized. You might be better off getting the mini hook and pick set if you don't have anything, and them get this set if you need giant ones.
These are some of the last Made in USA quality Craftsman Professional items left at Sears. These are great. The handles are large and comfortable, making these better than the smaller pick sets when you really need a tight grip. The tempered full-length shafts mean you don't have to worry that these will snap. Lifetime warranty.

I used these just today (first time using them) to try to pull the rear main oil seal from my Explorer engine. It's a pretty tough seal to pull, but I was surprised when the hook shaped one bent straight the first time I gave it a good pull. It eventually broke off in the middle. The long 90 degree bend one broke off at the bend soon after. I eventually managed to pull the seal with the stub left of the hook one, though not before putting a nasty bend in the third one. As a result, I'm going to have to pull the oil pan to try to retrieve the tip that fell in after breaking off. Not happy. I'm exchanging them my next trip to Sears. I'm hoping I just got a set with some bad metal or something. They shouldn't bend and break so easily as mine did! I guess I'll find out soon.
