Craftsman  4 pc. Spark Plug Socket Set, 3/8 in. drive

Purchased this set to work on my lawn equipment. Been using them for the past two years, no problems.

Having an old American-built pickup truck usually doesn't require my buying many special tools. Unfortunately, in the Chrysler 318, the spark plugs require a 13/16 spark plug socket, not the 5/8 I am accustomed to. I hit the hardware store, looking for a good option to get those old spark plugs out. Unfortunately, I could only find one store that sold the 13/16 spark plug socket separately and when I got to the counter, I was disappointed to discover that it was made in Taiwan. I quickly put it back and ran back and grabbed the Craftsman set, even though I already had a 5/8 socket, simply because it was Made in the USA.

When I got back home, the sockets worked perfectly and got out the plugs. The ratchet actually broke on the second to last plug, but the sockets remained unfazed. I would recommend the sockets to others, I just wish that they were not grouped in sets of four.

You never really know what size Spark Plug your going to encounter in my garage.  No, I'm not a professional mechanic - far from it.  But my garage seems to be a favorite weekend gathering place for my son's twenty-something year old gear-head friends.

One weekend we'll be tuning up a Ford Escape and next weekend we might be replacing the drive shaft in a Land Rover.  The point is this, you need your tool collection to be all encompassing.

This is a small investment for the piece of mind that you'll gain from knowing that you've got the right size spark plug socket for any application.  Now if you can only find it!  Well, that will need to be another post!

I bought this set to help winterize my lawn equipment.  I needed three different spark plug sockets for the job and this set contains all three of them (plus one I don't currently need). 

They fit any 3/8" ratchet, including those that are not Craftsman.  Large laser-edged lettering helps identify each socket from another.  What makes these different from your standard deep sockets is that there is a protective insert inside to help cradle the spark plug from hitting the sides of the socket while tightening or loosening it.

My only problem is that I have no way to keep these sockets separate from all the others, so they get mixed and matched quite easily.  I wish there was some sort of organizer that came with it, even if it was some sort of cheap pouch or canister.

They are a good buy when you consider the price of getting each socket separately from Craftsman.  Even with the lack of an organizer I would still recommend them.

Today I purchased the four piece 3/8 drive spark plug socket set.  I have been using Craftsman tools for many years, and I have always liked the tools for the way they feel and they way that they perform.

I needed to replace a broken spark plug socket, and purchased the set of four, figuring that it is always good to have more tools than I need.  They were packaged in a plastic holder in the security cage (of course).  When I got them home, I found that there are some sharp edges inside the sockets, unlike other sets that I have.  I attribute this to cost of production etc.  I do like the laser etched sizes on all of the sockets so they will be easier to find.

Overall, I am satisfied with this item.
