Nice attachment
I wish I would have bought one of these years ago. Assembly was straight forward and easy. The assembly instructions are ok. A little larger illustrations would be helpful. I found the exploded parts list illustration to be the most helpful. I had this assembled with the aid of a helper in less then 1/2 hour. Don't let the 2 or 3 hour assembly time reviews keep you from buying this. I also had extra nuts and bolts. The tines come pre installed, all that is required on assembly is the hitch and wheels, with handle. A total of 21 bolt and nuts if I remember right. This detatcher did a great job. I am using this on a little over 1-1/2 acres that are bumpy and have many slopes. I added two 15 pound dumbells to keep the tines down and in my opinion it did a wonderful job. Make sure you sweep after you detach so you can get the thatch off the lawn. (Or mow and bag it). Looking forward to seeing how my yard will look compared to my neighbors. That will be the real test.

It works well...But not easy to assemble
First off, let me say that this dethatcher does a good job. It removed quite of bit of thatch from my yard. But what a pain to assemble. First off I didn't get enough bolts with my unit so you can imagine the frustration. The bolts are hard to get tightened and in very obscure spots which make putting this dethatcher together not a fun job. Plus the directions don't really tell you how to get this thing leveled and the arm working. Great product once assembled, but give yourself about 2 hours to put together and feel a little frustrated.

Worked better than I ever expected

Was pretty easy to build and it worked great in my yard. Shocked how much dead stuff was in the yard.

Can't beat it for the price

This thing worked great. I have one acre and it handled it great. The handle to raise and lower is easy and handy. I used my blower to clean up the thatch. There was a ton. I used 4 small landscaping bricks for weight and it had just rained 3/4 of an inch 2 days before. I would not think it would work well if it were super dry. To store it i think you can remove 1 bolt to take the lever off and then hang it on the wall. Not too bad because otherwise it is big and bulky. Yes it is a little difficult to assemble but it only took me an hour. The instructions are terrible but I mostly just looked at the pictures on the box.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great value for the money spent

Bought on sale for $62. Does exactly as I expected. Needed to add weight to really draw out hidden thatch from the lawn. My first pass over the lawn (test run to make sure it was level) without weight was ok; second pass (once I knew it was ready) with a pair of 8x8x16 cinder blocks atop the tool really brought this thing to life. Assembly really wasn't difficult at all. 35 minutes or so and it was ready to go. Definitely worth the money...

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good but hassle to assemble

So I ready reviews on this, works good but a pain to assemble, some said takes 2 hours... yeah yeah, I thought, I am pretty handy at assembling just about any put-together items with tools, etc., so when I bought this on sale at Sears for about $65, and brought it home, opened the box in my garage and saw the number of pieces, I figured, 30 - 45 min tops .... WRONG... the print is small, hard to see the schematics with location of brackets and when it was all done, 2 hours later I was dethatching my lawn with this and yes, it works quite well, no regrets except I would have paid more $ to have it fully assembled. This was my first attachment that I have purchased for my new lawn tractor, and I am glad I bought it, but again... WHAT A PAIN to assemble...

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Works very well

I can't believe how much thatch (and other stuff) this pulled out of my lawn - I think the grass actually sighed in relief because it could finally breathe again. You will want to stock up on lawn waste bags and have a very big fan rake ready - unless you buy the sweeper attachment too.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Not to shabby!

It was a little time consuming and I needed to have an extra set of hands to help. I think the manufacturer could have easily put some of the brackets on before shipping it to me.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Reasonable Value for the Money

The Dethatcher does what it is supposed to do, is easy to mount and remove from the tractor, is relatively easy to operate once on the tractor, and it pulls dead grass from the lawn. It isn't as effective as I'd hoped it would be, and probably requires multiple passes over the lawn to really clean out the old grass. But it is much better than leaving the grass as is after the winter, and it isn't very complicated. I also have to admit that the amount of old grass it removes is surprising, since it doesn't leave noticeable tracks behind it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
