Nice attachment
I wish I would have bought one of these years ago. Assembly was straight forward and easy. The assembly instructions are ok. A little larger illustrations would be helpful. I found the exploded parts list illustration to be the most helpful. I had this assembled with the aid of a helper in less then 1/2 hour. Don't let the 2 or 3 hour assembly time reviews keep you from buying this. I also had extra nuts and bolts. The tines come pre installed, all that is required on assembly is the hitch and wheels, with handle. A total of 21 bolt and nuts if I remember right. This detatcher did a great job. I am using this on a little over 1-1/2 acres that are bumpy and have many slopes. I added two 15 pound dumbells to keep the tines down and in my opinion it did a wonderful job. Make sure you sweep after you detach so you can get the thatch off the lawn. (Or mow and bag it). Looking forward to seeing how my yard will look compared to my neighbors. That will be the real test.

It works well...But not easy to assemble
First off, let me say that this dethatcher does a good job. It removed quite of bit of thatch from my yard. But what a pain to assemble. First off I didn't get enough bolts with my unit so you can imagine the frustration. The bolts are hard to get tightened and in very obscure spots which make putting this dethatcher together not a fun job. Plus the directions don't really tell you how to get this thing leveled and the arm working. Great product once assembled, but give yourself about 2 hours to put together and feel a little frustrated.

Worked well

I used it with two cement blocks, once to break up the thatch, then overseeded, and then used it to work the seed into the soil a bit. It works much better with the ground wet.

good value

Needed to dethatch and rather than renting one at $60/day I bought this new for 62.99+tax from Sears outlet. Assembled in 40 minutes (no need for different bolts) and abused it on my yard (with 2 blocks for weight). It did a **** of a job and did not break; I was very pleased. Looks like it will last a pretty good while and pay for itself.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Fantastic job.

I could not believe the amount dead grass this dethatcher pulled up from underneath my green grass. There is no way a hand rake would do what this did, and in less time and effort.

Works Great!

It works great. Made even better by the fact that it isn't very expensive. I used it to drag a section of my yard that has been overtaken by moss as well as normal grass dethatching. I put a lot of weight on it to make it aggressive for the moss; I used less weight for thatching the grass.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Craftsman Dethatchers are a great pull behind attachment.

When I saw the item online in a picture I didn't think it would be made tough enough to do the job. The price was affordable in my opinion so I decided to give it a try. My yard was full of weeds, sticks, and other stuff so I thought I really need it. The assembly of it was a little tougher than I thought it would be. I was able to put everything together but I ended up with about eight extra hex bolts after the assembly was completed. Everything went together but some of the fasteners were really difficult to get to. They were in really tight places and I thought they could have stamped the bolt holes a little farther away from the tine's coils. It has a long handle that is convenient to operate it from the operator's seat with a little twisting effort. However, the long handle takes up a lot of storage space if you store it in the upright position. If you store it in the position as if it were being pulled behind the tractor the lever can get in your walking path and snag your pants as you walk past. After hooking it up behind my garden tractor it filled up with a lot of weeds and sticks to the point where I had to stop. At this point I cleaned it out and it kept filling back up. I ended up filling up a barrel with weeds and sticks after the first use. After dethatching once I noticed a difference in my yard. It seems like the grass is beginning to grow better. Hopefully it will continue to work for many more years to come.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Works great, lots of pieces to assemble.

When I picked it up the box is big, but all the pieces are free-floating inside. Every time you move the box metal is banging on metal. Was a little surprised to see such a large box yet so many unassembled pieces. Once it was together it works great.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
