Good to Begin With
Purchased product at local Sears three days ago - very light; very quiet; like that the handle folds down easily for storage; easy to maneuver; very good cut on fine lawn in front yard and tough lawn in back yard; good safety feature...can't start unless you hold start button and pull back lever; batteries charged in less than two hours...may have had some charge from manufacturer. I cut about 1700 square feet of lawn and looks like i have enough charge to cut this much lawn three times before needing to recharge batteries. I've only used it once so I may have to append this review later. The one bad thing so far is that one battery is a 40 volt 4 amp and the second batter is a smaller 40 volt 2 amp. Not sure why both are not 4 amps.

There are better battery mowers available
Battery Charger: there is no "Yellow" indicator light to indicate "warm battery", the larger battery during one charging time was HOT and there was NO other colored light, except the red charging lights. Battery Charger: there is no "maintenance mode" the green light does not fade nor blink Mower comes with two batteries: one 40-volt and one 20-Volt, yet no where in the instructions does it indicate which battery should be used first or if both batteries should be loaded together. I think one of the reviews said the smaller battery takes over when the larger battery is depleted; on my mower it's the opposite. If you lack strength in your hands forget about pulling the 40-volt battery out of the compartment in the mower, as the location of the battery locking mechanism and lack of graspable battery top prohibits ease of removal (also it is not easy to remove either battery from the charger). No indication of length of mow time in the instructions, but with the two batteries I have, I get two 1.5 hr cuts. Cutting grass: no indication as to how the mower actually operates here, but my mower's motors will slow down and then speed up if the grass is thicker. Once the thicker grass is passed, the mower will return to it's "normal speed". If you're a fanatic grass mower (the perfect lawn is a must) please do not invest your money on this one, because not all the tall grasses are cut nor does the mower like dandelion stems nor thick grass stems--a double pass is required. On the plus side: quiet, and pushes easily.

craftsmen 40 volt cordless mower

this machine beat the grass down and did not cut through evenly leaving high and low spots. The beat down grass laid on top of the grass next to it causing it to make dead spots. Also the two blades moving in opposite directions caused swirls in the yard because the beat down grass went in two direction. My yard is small and simple and well maintained with all grass and no weeds or other foreign things in it. I wanted to switch to a cordless mower but this one did not do the job. I bought another make and it is doing the job and now my lawn is getting back to looking good again

Pros and Cons

Cons: The blades are small (2-10inch, not 2-20inch like normal mowers). Therefore the front of the mower has about 6 inches of dead space before grass start to cut. Battery is not last as long as advertised. I have less than 1/2 acre and I barely finish. Sometimes I don't, but I have the weed eater so I have a third battery. Advertised is most likely 2 larger batteries (you get 1 small and 1 large when purchasing). Don't let the grass grow more than about 5-6 inches or it will die out a lot. The batteries will not charge hot, so you have to let them cool before it will charge. Having extra batteries from other devices will help in this area. Pros: Battery powered, so it will pay for itself in about 2-3 years and it comes with a 5yr warranty. It is whisper quiet; you can mow at 9pm and not effect anyone. As long as you keep up with your grass it is a great investment. Batteries are easy and quick to charge (though the bigger one is slightly harder to remove from lawn mover). Batteries can be used by any equipment in the 40v line. I know I have a lot of cons, but overall I think the pros out way the cons. A few adjustments to the way you mow, but good for the environment.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I will never buy a gas lawn mower again.

For a residential yard, this lawn mower is perfect. The batteries only take about 2 hours to be fully charged, the mower is powerful enough for tall grass, and it is quiet so you can mow late at night or early in the morning without disturbing the neighbors.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

craftsman electric lawnmower

I have a gasoline Craftsman lawn which works fine, but is very heavy and as I get older I have less strength. The electric lawnmower is ideal for my small yard.....NO GAS NO OIL NO NOISE.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Awesome Mower!

Bought the 40 amp cordless Craftsman lawn mover.....Love it!.....my only complaint is I wish it came with two 4Ah 40 volt batteries instead of one 4Ah and one 2Ah batteries.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Well built machine

I had read the reviews on this mower and thought they were too good to be true! I have used it a few times and still I am surprised how well the mower performs. It is very easy to handle and the battery lasts an hour for me. Enough time for me to finish the job! This machine is all that I would ever need. I am very happy that I made the purchase!

best electric lawnmower ever

This is a great lawnmower. After a few charges, the batteries last a lot longer than with the first charge. The lawnmower cuts very well and is light in weight compared to other battery powered lawnmowers. It is easy to maneuver around the yard. Uses no gas, or oil. Better for the environment.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Electric Mower

Pros: Light weight, 20 in. cut, easy for woman to handle, bagger very easy to put on and off. Cons: Two batteries which need to be charged separately unless you have two chargers. Batteries different thicknesses, one easy to remove other a bit difficult. Charge not lasting very long and not able to tell how full the charge is. Recommend: Not really, it's OK but I'd think there are better ones and sorry I didn't take it back within the two week trial. Sorry.
