I'm pleased with the saw, it has plenty of power to cut small stuff. I was using it to cut useless construction lumber to fit in a burn barrel this week end. The saw came with a low charge and with in 45 minutes it was fully charged. Sunday I went to work. Sawed a lot of plywood, 1x and 2 x 4's say 40 cuts or so and it still had most of it's charge. Went to charge after I was done and the charger was dead. Manual says if this happens take it back to the store for a replacement. More to come after I get a new charger.

The chainsaw is exactly what I expected. It's very easy to use and the battery lasts a good amount of time. It's perfect for cutting smaller trees.
This chainsaw works very well. I have used it to cut up some large tree branches that have fallen in my yard. The power is good and the battery seems to last a long time. This chainsaw comes with a 2 aH battery. I also bought the cordless lawnmower, which is pretty cool also. The lawnmower comes with a 2 aH and 4 aH battery. I can use the 2 aH battery on my chainsaw, but the 4 aH battery is too big, it won't fit in the chainsaw. Other than that, I am very impressed with this chainsaw.
This is my new favorite toy. I have lots of brush, softwoods, etc., in my yard. The battery life is very good and the saw works very well for a truly portable device. It is not a gas powered device and it is 12". I got exactly what I expected. Charges quickly. I also have the hedge trimmer so have two batteries and two chargers so I can go at either chore and have plenty of battery power. I also bought the blower which does much better than my 19.2v blower which I now use as a wanded vacuum. The 40v blower is quite useless other than for blowing dust out of the garage and its battery which I use as a spare for the chain saw.
My first unit came defective with a leaking chain oil tank. After doing an exchange I was finally able to use it. Don't cut anything >3in diamter. Battery power is decent on the smaller battery, however a 2nd or the larger battery is definitely needed. You get a massive performance upgrade by going to a brushless 40V chainsaw unit available from other companies. Had to return the Craftsman due to that lack of performance.
Tonight (10/25/13) cold weather finally moved into our area ...at a low of about 29 degrees...so I want to use my two home fireplaces. Winter weather in north Alabama is typically mild, so I do not feel I need a big heavy gas chain saw for the type of small logs I want for my fireplaces. This lightweight easy to use battery operated chain saw fits my needs. I quickly cut up (bucking) a few long pieces of wood that were about 5" in diameter into about 12" - 18" lengths for my fireplaces. I often see lengths of good potential firewood cast along the streets as garbage/lawn refuse from homes that either had storm damage or simply got rid of trees. Why buy firewood when something like this Craftsman 40V cordless is so easy to use? Even "green wood" stretches the budget when used with plenty of kindling and perhaps a fake 3 - 4 hour log or "firestarters". Cozy warm! Thanks SEARS :0)
Great chain saw for work around the yard. Ran it all afternoon and never had any problems at all. Easy to set up even though it came with the WORST instruction manual I have ever seen. Fun, lightweight, strong and looks to be very well made. I love this chain saw and highly recommend it for the casual chain saw user. No gas/oil to mix and start up is just a button squeeze. Full charge in just over an hour.
