As of 08/07/2014, this set is 100% made in USA. Very nice. Fit and finish is exactly what you'd expect. I don't see a discernible difference compared to my old set and this new set. Overall: Nice set. Strong recommend it. Paid $440.00 delivered to my door.

The set was very nice engravings werent bad an all the chrome was nice an clean a few problems though i had one ratchet missing one socket an a extension missing also the packaging was terrible the box was destroyed with bags of tools torn open in the box but they did ship it quick but well worth it but recommended pick them up at your local sears so the box cant be messed up

Very good on varity of sockets. Everything was in box and is better than buying small sets to make one set. Better yet when all i needed was the sockets from big sizes to small sizes (deep sockets n shorts). Would recommend this to all mechanics that repair all most anything that takes sockets especially vehicles. Dont stop handling this set. I all ways had craftsman and will keep buying product upon needing it.

I just picked up the tools and they are all stamped Made in USA or Forged in USA as of 3/19/2014. Other than quality made in USA was the most important thing for me. I'm pleased with the similar quality to my 1990's craftsman tools. The nut drivers are appear a little less quality than my previous set. Also, some of the metals and finishes are a little different but nothing too drastic. I saw some complaints about the packaging and the difficulty in auditing the contents. Yes the packaging is a bit strange but I was able to sort and audit the tools with minimal effort. Nothing missing from my set. It?s interesting they don?t advertise this set as Made in USA.
Good: The variety. That is all!! Bad: packaging, it was missing socket, wrench and nut driver. QA item checklist paper is a chaos, no logic on how things are organized both on the paper and in the packaged bags. Sockets are missing chrome plating, size engravings is very hard to read. On some sockets it looks like the size was scratched with the needle and not laser carved. It It appears this set was made by different manufactures. Metal used from one size of socket to another looks very different. I have a feeling Sears/Craftsman does not make a complete set, but buys different pieces from the lowest bidders. Overall quality suffers. Very disappointing. Sears/Craftsman please improve quality of your packaging and products or you might soon loose all your customers.

The tools are the usual expected quality from Craftsman. Some duplication in sizes, but not an issue. The way the sockets were packaged made it tedious to inventory and sort. Had 7 pieces missing. Reported it to customer service and after 5 emails they issued a credit and then agreed to replace the items after telling me they couldn't do it and that I would have to return the entire set. Looks like all will be resolved. If you are looking for a nearly full up tool box, this is a great buy.
After looking at the different Craftsman tool sets to give to my 21 year old son for Christmas, I decided on this one because it contains the most complete set of tools including larger size wrenches and sockets that are missing from smaller sets. However, it is not a perfect set in that I would like to have the following included: deep 1/2" six point sockets (really, I never require anything other than 6 point sockets), no 1/2" U-joint, and no 10" 3/8" extension bar. And as with most sets, you have to buy adjustable, locking and regular slip joint pliers separately as well as a set of screwdrivers. In addition to the few tools I'd like to have added, some cons include: - the set is listed as a "HOT BUY" item, so you are not allowed to apply discounts. I bought it for $499. - you have to special order it since it is not stocked in stores. This was not a problem for me since Sears offered *************. - after a tool inventory, one 9mm wrench was missing. I assume Sears will supply the missing wrench. Be sure to do an inventory should you buy any tool set. If you want a set that will include most wrenches/sockets that you will ever need, then I'd recommend this set. If you don't need the larger wrenches, than perhaps another set. I also gave consideration for the 325 piece easy read set, which I could have gotten for about $350 on sale and with discounts. but decided to go with this set because it would cost over $150 to add the large wrenches. And as usual, I buy Craftsman tools because of the lifetime warranty and I know Sears will be around in the future to honor the warranty. Over the years, I've had a number of ratchets and other tools replaced with no questions or problems.

This is by far the best kit for the value of tools. The wrenches and sockets combined cover nearly everything a beginner/intermediate will need to start a tool box. There are some sizes that jump or skip, such as an the metric from 17 to 19. On the plus side, there is an 18 mm in another drive size that will fill the need. The flex handles and extension bars alone are worth buying the entire kit. All around good kit that covers from precision work to breaking large bolts loose.
I lost everything to a fire and thought this set would suffice from losing 20 years worth of tools , I was right , then I bought the 13 drawer tool box to house them . Everything I work on has been fixed with this set!
