Product Description

Use this Craftsman Sweeper High Speed for a Cleaner Lawn

Make a clean sweep of leaves, grass clippings, lawn debris and more with the Craftsman 42" high speed lawn sweeper With its easy maneuverability and operation, it makes cleaning the yard a breeze, working well even at low speeds and in places where the lawn is wet. And it picks up practically everything from gumballs to pine needles. Simply adjust the height and speed according to the thickness of the debris that needs to be removed. It collects most of the heavy grass on the first pass while lighter clippings disappear right away.

The Craftsman sweeper high speed features a universal fit attachment with a spring loaded adjustable height hitch pin that connects quickly to any brands' tractor hitch plate, too. The cantilever hitch design gives maximum traction and weight to the large wheels for effective and efficient sweeping action. Twelve inch, reinforced brushes devour the assortment of yard debris with powerful wide-sweeping action emptying them into the included hamper. An easy dump system and a giant capacity bag capable of holding up to 22 cubic feet, or about 18 bushels, will save you substantial time and effort for unloading. And with an incredible 8.5:1 brush to wheel ratio, the high-performance this lawn wweeper adds more muscle to your yard work.

  • Built to last, the Craftsman 42 in High Speed Sweeper keeps your yard looking immaculate season after season
  • Easily pick up grass clippings, leaves, lawn debris, even pine needles
  • 12 in. reinforced brushes whisk material into the bag - 20% larger than other brands
  • Craftsman Exclusive - 8.5:1 brush to wheel ratio - 70% more brush revolution versus other brands, faster turning brushes = more sweeping action
  • Giant 22 cu. ft. hamper capacity (18 bushel capacity)
  • Large wheels with diamond tread provide maximum traction when towing
  • Clear coated hardware resists rust
  • Weight: 91 lbs.
  • Color: Red/Black

Craftsman 42" Sweeper
I have always wanted , needed a sweeper and as the older I got the more it became a must. So when I bought my Sears Monster Tractor I also purchased a great sweeper. It works just as I hoped it would and better, picking up Oak leaves and Pine needles. The load of leaves I sweeped up was just so much. I have saved several days of raking and my back. I can now do it in less than half the time. This is an awesome sweeper that I plan on having and using for many years. Thanks for another great product.

Disappointed in Craftsman~ DON'T BUY THIS!!!
I grew up on Craftsman products. My father and grandfather both used them and trusted them. So when my daughter bought me this sweeper as a gift I was proud of her choice and excited to use this as I have a 3/4 acre yard. I have been disappointed and angered every time I have used this poor quality piece of junk. The wheels fall off every time I use it. And the wheels lock almost every time I use it which tears up my yard and prevents the brushes from doing their job. I would give less than one star if that was an option. What happened to you Craftsman?? I will never buy another lawn product from you. And would highly recommend that nobody buy this lawn sweeper. It is more work than sweeping the yard.

Take a picky man's word for it; It's worth the money!

I have a 1/4 acre of grass that I De-thatched and I thought what a pain it is to rake it up after dethatching. So I gave it a go and bought this sweeper regardeless of what the bad ratings were as you know everyone is a critic. So my wife an I had this together in about an hour. No missing parts or no damaged parts. So I re-thatched the yard and I had a ton of dead grass. After getting the easy to adjust height right, this thing picked up like a vacuum cleaner. You should run your tractor at near full speed. The ratio is the wheel turns around once and the brushes turn 5 times. So a 5:1. I fill it up and it holds alot, back it up, pull the rope and the grass falls right out. My boys bagged near 20 bags in about an hour and I picked it up with this sweeper in about 20 minutes and that was running back and forth. My yard is not level and yet running in criss cross pattern picked it ALL up. I recommend this. If you have problems with it, it's because you have not set it up right. The instructions say the rear bag should be 5-7" from the level ground. I found getting this on the grass and looking at the brushes just meeting with the ground worked. If it's no picking up grass, then lower it, only takes a few seconds by hand. If the wheels are not turning and look like the brakes are on, then you have it too low. You'll get the hang of it and be careful you neighbors may want to borrow it. Better than a rear bagger in my opinion. Good luck.

gets up even live oak leaves

This sweeps up whole and mulched leaves really well. However, the brush height adjustment is a real pain. The bag can hold lots but going over sandy soil one must be careful if the brush is set low becasue you can bog down and have a bag that is too heavy to dump.

Works Fine, Some Assembly Required

This sweeper works if you don't have piles of leaves. It only moves forward, so dumping must be done on flat ground. If you overload it, it will drag the wheels, because the brush is directly geared to the wheels--there's no ratcheting gear unless you back up. Backing up is always a problem with pulled attachments. My solution was to dump them in a line and blow the leaves into the pile of compost. Works best when sweeping just a few leaves for looks and for flat lawns with no trees. Otherwise you must rake or blow the leaves into the open for pick-up. You must pay attention to the dumping rope so it doesn't disengage and get twisted up into the sweeper brush. As usual, the assembly instructions are unclear or misleading.

sweeper review

A neighbor told me about this and said it works great and picks up most anything in the yard. I have some very large leaves that my mower or even grass catcher will not pick up, but this does quite well

42" sweeper

Works great once you adjust the hitch and brush height. Instructions can be a little foggy. Saves the back and arms from all the raking. It could use a neutral when hauling the leaves to the dump area.

Leaf sweeper

The Craftsman 42 inch high speed sweeper works very well for clearing our lawn of leaves. The only problem is it has to be emptied frequently.

Quality getting worse

I have owned 3 of these over the years and everyone has got worse. My newest one, 1 1/2 years old is down right now waiting on $40 worth of parts.

Major Design problems

After two uses, my lawn was cut up pretty bad by the drive wheel randomly sticking or slipping. The slightest angle or moisture on the lawn causes the drive wheel to stop spinning and cut deep grooves in the lawn. The name should be changed to LOW speed sweeper, anything about 3 causes the wheels to slip & gauge. The hopper never comes close to being full, because the path to shoot the leaves is blocked when its half full. The dumping is needlessly difficult due to lack of a quick-release hitch and lack of a clutch to disengage the sweeper. If those features were added, and a better tire that actually gripped the lawn, the sweeper might work as advertised.
