Make a clean sweep of leaves, grass clippings, lawn debris and more with the Craftsman 42" high speed lawn sweeper With its easy maneuverability and operation, it makes cleaning the yard a breeze, working well even at low speeds and in places where the lawn is wet. And it picks up practically everything from gumballs to pine needles. Simply adjust the height and speed according to the thickness of the debris that needs to be removed. It collects most of the heavy grass on the first pass while lighter clippings disappear right away.

I have a 1/4 acre of grass that I De-thatched and I thought what a pain it is to rake it up after dethatching. So I gave it a go and bought this sweeper regardeless of what the bad ratings were as you know everyone is a critic. So my wife an I had this together in about an hour. No missing parts or no damaged parts. So I re-thatched the yard and I had a ton of dead grass. After getting the easy to adjust height right, this thing picked up like a vacuum cleaner. You should run your tractor at near full speed. The ratio is the wheel turns around once and the brushes turn 5 times. So a 5:1. I fill it up and it holds alot, back it up, pull the rope and the grass falls right out. My boys bagged near 20 bags in about an hour and I picked it up with this sweeper in about 20 minutes and that was running back and forth. My yard is not level and yet running in criss cross pattern picked it ALL up. I recommend this. If you have problems with it, it's because you have not set it up right. The instructions say the rear bag should be 5-7" from the level ground. I found getting this on the grass and looking at the brushes just meeting with the ground worked. If it's no picking up grass, then lower it, only takes a few seconds by hand. If the wheels are not turning and look like the brakes are on, then you have it too low. You'll get the hang of it and be careful you neighbors may want to borrow it. Better than a rear bagger in my opinion. Good luck.
This sweeps up whole and mulched leaves really well. However, the brush height adjustment is a real pain. The bag can hold lots but going over sandy soil one must be careful if the brush is set low becasue you can bog down and have a bag that is too heavy to dump.
This sweeper works if you don't have piles of leaves. It only moves forward, so dumping must be done on flat ground. If you overload it, it will drag the wheels, because the brush is directly geared to the wheels--there's no ratcheting gear unless you back up. Backing up is always a problem with pulled attachments. My solution was to dump them in a line and blow the leaves into the pile of compost. Works best when sweeping just a few leaves for looks and for flat lawns with no trees. Otherwise you must rake or blow the leaves into the open for pick-up. You must pay attention to the dumping rope so it doesn't disengage and get twisted up into the sweeper brush. As usual, the assembly instructions are unclear or misleading.

A neighbor told me about this and said it works great and picks up most anything in the yard. I have some very large leaves that my mower or even grass catcher will not pick up, but this does quite well
Works great once you adjust the hitch and brush height. Instructions can be a little foggy. Saves the back and arms from all the raking. It could use a neutral when hauling the leaves to the dump area.

After two uses, my lawn was cut up pretty bad by the drive wheel randomly sticking or slipping. The slightest angle or moisture on the lawn causes the drive wheel to stop spinning and cut deep grooves in the lawn. The name should be changed to LOW speed sweeper, anything about 3 causes the wheels to slip & gauge. The hopper never comes close to being full, because the path to shoot the leaves is blocked when its half full. The dumping is needlessly difficult due to lack of a quick-release hitch and lack of a clutch to disengage the sweeper. If those features were added, and a better tire that actually gripped the lawn, the sweeper might work as advertised.
