Craftsman  42 in. Primary Drive Belt

I own a Craftsman Riding Mower that I have used for the last 6 years on my 2.4 acres located in the Cascade Foot Hills. The property is rustic and the lawn mowers chore is tough one. Last year I purchased a discount mower drive belt and this year I had to purchase another; my replacement belt is a genuine Craftsman and instantly I recognized an improvement in mower's performance. The original belt lasted several years, the discount belt (about 7 dollars cheaper) lasted one year and slipped the whole time. No brainier, I wasted my money buying something other then a genuine craftsman replacement part.

I want to thank the Sears Service department for forcing me to figure out how to install this belt on my riding mower. I called the service department number that I received from the lawn and garden department. This occured on Friday, September 30th 2011. Since I am physically disabled, I was more than willing to pay the $99 fee to have a technician come out and look at my mower to fix the problem. However, when the person on the other end of the line informed me that the earliest the technician would be able to come out would be October 31, 2011, I decided that even I could repair the mower before Sears would be able to come out to look at it. I had no idea that October was such a busy month for lawn mower repairs. I think by the end of October, the odds of needing my snowblower will be greater than needing my lawn mower. Either way, I had the belt installed within 3.5 hours and saved the $99 fee. Thanks Sears Service !

I am not sure if it is the belt or the mower, however, I have to replace this drive belt almost every year. At first I thought it had to be something wrong on my mower, but then I found that a couple of other customers are having the same problem. I would love to see a high quality belt offered that will last a few years.
