Quick starting and easy to control. The steering is almost too easy, so you have to pay attention. With the mulching plug it does a nice job, It doesn't chop too fine, but it does scatter the clippings in a way that you won't create those little piles. The clutch is very tight, so it will jump no matter how slowly you release it. It was easy to disable the reverse switch that will kill the engine if you try to backup with the blade engaged. Check u-tube for a nice review on the mower and to see how to unplug that switch. I am impressed with this mower, and I hope it holds up well. I bought the 3-year warranty, and I am not happy about that, but you need it with this mower. Still, the price was right, and so far it does a good job.
This item was not a good purchase and has been broke down more than it has worked. Problems range from steering to the way it cuts. Poorly designed and not worth the money! Service men that come out get rude to avoid having to come back!

Great trouble shooting tip we found on YouTube...just bought the mower and have been happy with it. Our mower stopped suddenly in the middle of mowing yesterday and we checked a million things trying to figure out what was wrong. On a YouTube review, we found a mention of a safety switch on the right side plastic shute that was our exact issue! We had bumped something in the yard while mowing and knocked the chute away from the safety switch. A quick loosening and adjustment of the shute and the mower started right up!
Bought it on 6/23/2014. Decided to mow the grass on 6/27/2014. Checked the oil started without a problem. Having to disengage the PTO when backing up is a pain. But I was going straight tried to turn right and the mower happily kept going straight. Stopped the mower and guess what the steering wheel and shaft came out in my hands. Looks like a bolt holding the steering wheel and shaft to the steering gear box shaft had fallen out. Uggh! Took the front covers off and found a bolt laying there. Took the bolt and found a nut that would work on it. The bolt is threaded and doesn't even have a shoulder so the threads won't garbage up holes in the shafts. To make matters worse Sears didn't have any in boxes so I had to take one that was assembled. The first one wasn't showing any oil on the dipstick. So rather than getting me oil they wheeled out a different one. Now the only question is do I call sears for service or do I go get the correct bolt and install it myself. I wonder if they would send me the correct bolt and nut for me to install?
