I bought this mower last year. Didn't have any real issues. It does occasionally smoke a lot however. Before using it this season, I decided to change the Oil and Filter for the first time. I would just like to say what a gigantically stupid design. They supply you with piece of plastic which is supposed to go under the oil drain hole, to funnel the used oil to a container. First problem is that the 50 cent piece of plastic is too short to funnel the oil past the lawn mower. Second problem is that most of the oil just goes under behind the piece of plastic. Most of the used oil ended up on various other parts of the lawnmower. Another concern is that I noticed quit a bit of metal shavings in the oil. I'm not sure if this needs to be a concern since I'm not a mechanic. I would like to same most of the bad review that this is receiving is because of the oil change procedure. I would otherwise give it 3 or 4 starts.
We bought this mower for our 3 1/2 lots. It is a great mower for the price. It has an excellent turning radius. It can get close to places our push mower couldn't. It has a great cut. We like the idea that we can also add a bagger or a sprayer to it with no problems either. Starts right away. It's not very big but it can definitely handle the job. Would highly recommend this mower to anyone who wants a mower bigger then a push one but not the huge mowers. We are very satisfied with our choice and our purchase!!

This mower has plenty of power in a rather small package. Perfect for less than an acre, with a 30 inch cut, it would be too small for an acre or more. Good turning radius mean I don't have to waste time and gas.
Does a lot of spitting and sputtering. It cuts ok if you overlap 50% each pass which only gives you a 15" cut. Seems like the engine runs at really slow RPM. That's probably why it doesn't cut so good. You can unplug a wire to disconnect the reverse cutoff of the blade to make it a lot easier to use. Youtube has some videos that show how to do it. I regret buying it. I should have got a real mower instead.
This is a really nice mower, that cuts well and runs good. I'm staring my third season in my relatively small yard. So far no problems- just a couple of things that bug me. Firstly, I searched around and finally had to buy a new oil filter for it last Spring which cost about $20 or more, and I thought that outrageous. The filters are small then and a collapsing type of car filter wrench does not want to go small enough. I'm going to try to get it on again this spring by wrapping some old bicycle inner tube around it and see if I can get a grip. The sensors are a pain in the keester, the "reverse shut down sensor" while the blade is engaged IS annoying- I've lived with it two seasons now, disengaging the blade before backing up but may now try to rewire an override around it. Same for the deck sensor- It's twice gotten jarred out of place, which shuts off the whole ignition. That took a trip to the owners manual the first time before I figured out what had happened, the second time this year had me guessing again, but from now on, that'll be the first thing I check. The battery's still cranking and the motor does great. I'm sure glad I have this in the heat of Florida summers!
I am more than pleased with performance and ease of handling. Ideal riding mower for our lot which is just about an acre. Great value and reasonable price.
Maintenance on this mower is a nightmare. The battery is crammed under the cowling making it almost impossible to maintain or remove. Changing oil and filter results in flood of oil all over the frame even if one uses the included flimsy oil drain shunt. This mower is engineered so that the average owner is forced to take the mower to sears for typical maintenance. It doesn't do well on uneven or rough yards and tends to scalp the grass on outside of turns.
Fits my needs. I did some shopping around and Sears had the best price for the type of riding lawn mower that I needed. It's a Craftsman so I know that I'll have no trouble with it.
