      Great Product
This mower is not good for a "Mechanically Mentally Challenged" people. Most people who buy it and don't like it are most likely attempting to have it do more that its design limits. Answer: buy a bigger mower. But for a half acre or less its great. The only thing I didn't like about it was the "pain in the backside" reverse engine cutoff switch. This cuts the engine if you put it in reverse with the blade engaged. But a simple examine of the F/N/R shift rod showed me how it worked and an easy non-evasive solution to this problem - a piece of 3/8 in. plastic tubing three inches long placed over the shift rod to insulate it from touching the engine cutoff contact solved this problem. Once I engineered this, I then bought the mower. The transmission and clutch is a bit touchy until the mower gets broken-in a bit. But after a half of a season it runs very smooth. The mulcher (extra purchase) feature is great too.

      Not Good
Does a good job cutting, but the motor was cutting out. Service man came out, ordered a carburetor. Hasn't installed yet, but it ran good enough so I was using it, something happened and now can't even get the motor to turn over. Taking it back to Sears, if they will give me a new one I will try it, but if not want my money back :-(

      Nice small riding mower

I needed a small riding lawn mower and this mower fit the bill perfectly. It was missing the bolt that holds the steering wheel in place but the store got one for me right away. Easy to maneuver and use. Seems like a good buy.

      Not what I expected!

I ordered this riding mower after reading the reviews, when it was delivered the delivery people told my wife all I needed to do was put gas in it. First mowing it cut very uneven, they said to call within 72 hours if there was a problem. Called told them it was not cutting well and the deck needed leveled, after getting the run around on the phone, finally said they would send their delivery people back. I was told by delivery they would tell their manager and he would call me on Monday and they would bring me a new mower. This made no sense to me, the new mower, the phone call did which I never got. Gave them a couple of days to call me, a call that never came. Finally called back said would send someone, soonest they could come would be 12 days away. Now the good part, I got the deck pretty well level myself, so on my third use of the mower it stopped about halfway through my yard and would not start again. Called service to inform them I had another problem with the mower now and its very inconvenient that it is not working and could they come sooner. Nope, still have to wait. That is where I am right now, waiting for them to come fix this "lemon"

      Very happy

Hooked the battery up and off we went. No problems as yet. Runs very smooth, cuts very well, and is very fast. Seat is comfortable and I'm 6' 220#. Very good turn radius and it's in tight spots. Very easy to move around in garage and small enough to still get our 2 cars in garage. Changing the oil doesn't look easy but we'll face that challenge. What took me 2-1/2 hrs with a self propelled took me 50 min. Couldn't be happier so far, but time will tell.

      Impressive

This is the first rider we've ever owned. We have a typical suburban half acre lot with a fenced back yard. We bought this mower becasue the tractors were a bit large for our needs. It arrived from Sears right on time. It was assembled except the battery was disconnected for storage and shipping. We connected the battery and and filled it with gas and took it for its test run. Its great.Love it. It cuts nicely, and its easy to use.We dont have a perfect yard, its bumpy and sloped .We also have a power line area behind our house that fronts a small forrest, that we keep mowed in the summer becasue we walk the dog out there. My son who is 6 '3 and 280 lbs told me its more than powerful and roomy enough for him to easily use.A very nice mower especially for the money

      Purchased last fall - Awesome

Purchased this last fall (2014) Super great for our 1/2 acre yard, fits easily thru out gates, did however disengage the safety so it could mow in reverse, simple wire to unplug as per the you-tube video. As a female, I preferred the smaller compact size without a bulky motor in-front and yet manly enough for my husband to use. 1-The only con's are that the mulch plug did not come with it. Had to buy it separately for $40 on the Sears website. 2-The forward/neutral/reverse lever is between your legs (poor placement) and 3- the cutting deck doesn't have wheels to avoid scalping your lawn if its not level or flat. I would strongly advise that you DO use fuel stabilizer & ethanol additive if you want to avoid starting issues, straight gas has alcohol and will dry out the internal rubber components, and sitting untreated gas will gunk up the carburetor. SO if you don't want to be replacing or rebuilding the carburetor, use the ethanol additive & stabilizer! We did/do and after sitting all winter, it started right up last week with NO problems. Over all, this is a great mower, and would buy this again. If taken care of, this will last a good long time. Very happy in PA

      Craftsman 29000 RER Review

I've owned this mower for almost a year (Purchased April of 2014). I purchased it on sale for $900. For the money, I can't say a bad word about this mower. Yes, you have to disconnect a wire under the seat to mow in reverse. An easy task that takes all but 2 minutes to do. Find the DYI on YouTube. The steering is not as tight as I would like, but for $900 it's more than enough for a weekend rider. Yes, the first oil change will be a messy affair. I recommend you buy the $13 part from the parts store to make the 2nd oil change a snap. It's basically a new oil plug that you can connect a plastic tube to it so that the oil can be changed with a little turn of a lever. The oil plug/gadget thingy works on all the craftsman mowers. It's a great product. Finally, I purchased the bagging unit and am very happy. The mower vacuums up the leaves just fine, but can plug up if you are mowing up wet leaves and the actual bags get filled up. So, just notice when the leaves are not getting sucked up to keep it from happening. The size of the bagging unit is perfect. The size of the actual bags make dumping them into a plastic bag a snap. I live in Dallas and have a ton of leaves from a HUGE red oak tree and this year's fall leaf clean-up was a total breeze. Even my wife commented on how much fun it was to drive the mower and dump the bags. Lastly, I purchased the broadcast spreader and core aerator at a Sears Hardware store. They marked them WAY down right before winter. I love them both. Just a month ago, the mower aerated my front and back yard and pulled it with little effort. All in all, with a OHV pressure lubricated engine I can't complain. I did my first oil change at 5 hours as is recommend and the little mower is running great. I used the Auto Zone synthetic oil and it's as clean as can be after 3 months of use. I also looked at the Snapper 110 RER, but for $600 more I couldn't justify the cost. Also, the bagging unit for the Snapper is $500 plus. Ouch. I normally buy all my tools at a commercial lawn care supply house. Crockett Lawn and Garden in Dallas, Texas. The employee at the store told me to buy the craftsman over the Snapper for the fact that the Craftsman can be fixed by just about anyone. The additional cost of the mower and add on attachments for the Snapper was not worth the additional cost.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      Outstanding buy

I really couldn't be happier with this mower. Bought it last spring and used one year so far. starts right up, every time, and just works. And works. I have a half-acre yard, thats mostly flat, with some tricky rockbeds to mow around. This thing does the job very well, and is fun to run. I always look forward to hopping on the thing and getting out in the yard. As others have written, it's a little jerky, when it first takes off, and I'm hoping that wears-in over time. Another minor shortcoming is that the mower deck is affixed to the machine, and doesn't ride over the terrain. So scalping is possible, going over bumps, and when turning corners at higher speeds, you can get an uneven cut. The answer to that, is to slow down a bit. With 6 speeds, I find that if I can either take my time with it, and enjoy the zen, or if I want to get it done quickly...I just grab a higher gear. The thing also has plenty of power to haul the operator (I weigh 220) and drag yard implements around. Dethatcher, lawn sweeper, etc. Really a fun little machine to operate. The bagger-size is not a problem, either. For my half-acre, I need to stop 4 or 5 times to empty it. Pretty short pit stops.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
