I purchased this mower because I no longer can walk behind a regular mower.
All I do now is direct and ride. It is a good smooth ride and it takes care of all I need to do to my yard. I also purchased the attachment bag to collect all the cuttings and now all I have to do is fill up the trash bags and let them be picked up at the curve on trash day. I do not have to rake like before! I am now able to take care of my own yard, the way I want it, and save my energy, do not have to work as hard, and my neighbors always notice which yards are kept up. I feel good about the how the grass looks and it also enriches the all over looks of the property. Thanks to Craftsman and the products they offer to the customers. I also took advantage of buying while on a special sale.

tractor needs work
We purchased this product for our lake house. In the first hour the deck dropped down due to a cable issue. Got that fixed and noticed the motor started to smoke. I have now mowed three times since it started and it is getting harder to start.

Great Price for a Great mower

I always found that the craftsman product line of riding mowers were wonderful. Bought this mower to replace my previous craftsman on the same size. My pervious craftsman lasted 11 years and I can tell this one will last just as long. A must buy!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Horrible machine

I read the reviews of this product and saw a couple with a deck problem and thought well sure this was just a fluke. Well its not my deck will scalp the lawn. I purchased this unit in June and it is already REALLY hard to start. I am NOT happy with this machine!

Why bad review's?

Mower was delivered on July 18,exactly on time, already assembled, I did not start it right away, I added a larger in-line fuel filter, also a fuel shut off, I took the oil filter off to find a name brand oil filter with larger capacity,STP S4967,Fram 3600,Mobil 1 M1-103 all fit, they are all about a inch longer than the original filter, the added length still does not pose a problem with space, finally got around to starting it on the 20th,as soon as I hit the key it was running, not even a slight hesitation, I added the mulcher kit, and put it to work today (22nd),it does a perfect job, as even a cut of any mower as I have ever had,(push or rider) my yard is flat with a couple of hump's around one edge of the property, without the wheel's on the deck it WILL scalp, the engine is surprisingly quiet, and has plenty of power, I take extremely good care of my equipment, so I expect this mower will last a long time, the build quality is as good as a rider I bought 20 years ago from ****** (also built by MTD) overall I am very pleased with the purchase.

Don't waste your $$!

I had this tractor for ONLY 3 YEARS and the transmission/back end went south. It would have cost $400.00 for parts and $300.00 for labor. I can get a heard of goats to eat my grass for a LOT LESS! I should have known I was in for bad luck when the tire went flat after 20 minutes of cutting as soon as I used it. (Maybe I'll throw in some sheep, too!) AND...you can't control the cutting height of the grass. It cuts short, short, short... (I know! A couple of cows will work, too!) Thanks Sears! I've now become a farmer!

A bit of a come down but well worth the cost

Great price & payment terms so I can't complain but clearly not as well made as older models. This model T1000 replaced an LT3000 I've used for many years. I probably should have bought a more expensive model. The tractor is good enough I suppose. The deck is the noisiest I've owned in a long time. The deck to the LT3000 has problems, most notably no leading wheels to glide over roots & humps. The new one (T1000) is fully suspended needing no wheels but when engaged it's so noisy & actually rumbles & vibrates. I have to take a break every hour or so. Not sure why they can't state the Horsepower rating, why it has to run all the time with the lights on, and why the Forward/Reverse control on the lest side & the deck height adjustment on the right side are placed where they catch my pant legs in bermuda shorts regardless which side I dismount the tractor. This is my 2nd tractor. Wouldn't have kept it if were my primary. It's too much a rough rider for my wife to consider using it.

Saw this riding lawn mower in the store and knew I had to own it!

I purchased this Sears Craftsman riding lawn mower because I know Sears will stand behind all their products. I purchased my first Sears Craftsman riding lawn mower in 1996 and used it many years with good results. It also had a snow blower attachment which I used many, many times in Wisconsin. I sold that tractor and liked the new models so decided to purchase one.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Will be good once it is repaired

I bought this as a refurbished mower. When I got it home, I mowed one strip of grass to test it out. It worked fine. The next time we took it out, the blades would notwork; the belt that controls the blades had come offf. Evidently, the belt was stretched. Sears said they will send me a belt, but the technician cannot come for another 2 weeks.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

New Riding Mower

Very happy with this purchase. Item was delivered on time for free and ready to go except for gas. I also installed a hitch and have been using it to pull a trailer without issue. The 1-5 cutting range is super low to pretty high to give lots of options on height of grass cut.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Over $1000 piece of junk...

This product is JUNK... ONLY worked the way I wanted with modifications. I purchased this tractor knowing it was a basic tractor and thinking that it would be like any of my tractors of the past. Once I got it the wheels were tilted under and facing in, go to any store and see they ALL have the same problem. I was told they ship these with over inflated tires and they say it's in the book to let the air out. Not only could I NOT find the place in the manual but I did let air out and the wheels are still off center. GO to your local store and you can't miss the problem. Next STUPID feature, the tractor shuts off if you have the blades on and go in reverse. Some sort of new safety feature I found a cheat around this and pulled the wire off the sensor under the FWD / REV lever and fixed that. The other problem was the mower deck would work ONLY on the top 2 cut levels so I had the tighten up the front center nut to the center tension bar for more tension on the belt and now the mower deck works in all positions.
