I purchased this mower because I no longer can walk behind a regular mower.
All I do now is direct and ride. It is a good smooth ride and it takes care of all I need to do to my yard. I also purchased the attachment bag to collect all the cuttings and now all I have to do is fill up the trash bags and let them be picked up at the curve on trash day. I do not have to rake like before! I am now able to take care of my own yard, the way I want it, and save my energy, do not have to work as hard, and my neighbors always notice which yards are kept up. I feel good about the how the grass looks and it also enriches the all over looks of the property. Thanks to Craftsman and the products they offer to the customers. I also took advantage of buying while on a special sale.

tractor needs work
We purchased this product for our lake house. In the first hour the deck dropped down due to a cable issue. Got that fixed and noticed the motor started to smoke. I have now mowed three times since it started and it is getting harder to start.

New mower

Is an Ok mower, wasn't the quality I expected from Sears. I had a craftsman before and it lasted for over 10 years. The mower seams to be made of lower quality metal. The key mechanism is starting to come off only after 2 times. I don't like that the mower completely shuts down if you go in reverse with the mower deck turned on.

This mower is the worst ever it cuts the lawn on even with it's floating deck, can only cut at one level or you'll dig into the ground and there is nothing you can do about it cause sear and craftsmen tells you to bad you bought it so that's just the way it is never again will I buy from them I used to be a fan not no more the engine is made in China with the craftsmen name on it boy what a way to lie to the people what ever you do stay away from this mower.

Very First Riding Mower

Although it's a manual shift mower, it feels more like an automatic to me. You can go faster by adjusting speed lever while driving, but to go slower, you would have to depress/press the brake/clutch in, then slide lever to preferred lower speed. I find that speed level # 3 is the best speed and blade height #3 is the best blade height unless you have like 3ft tall grass, then one will want to move slow and use the highest deck height setting. I let my GF give the mower a try, and like a non driver, she headed straight for the mulch around the house, from there, full speed into tall grass and ran over some obvious tree branches, that I moved out the way on purpose. After the gas finally ran out( thank goodness), it took sometime to get mower started again once refueled. Mower did what I needed it to do and that's cut grass while carrying 214lbs on it's back, up and down my hilly yard. Mower withstood the Girl Friend so I would definitely buy another if needed. It's a good mower for the price and an entry level mower. Being that it's a 2014 model I feel all mowers should have tight turn, fuel injection, and easy seat adjust, non of which this mower has. Overall, mower rides nice and cuts very well so I would buy another.

Manufacture needs to rethink

We bought this to mow our summer home and the deck dropped first of all and the store owner repaired that. Now the engine seems to be losing lower and is smoking!

Awesome Tractor!

I'm telling you the truth, this tractor cut down five foot high grass and weeds and I mean really tough weeds that my weed eater could not handle without binding up! After the first cut I went back over the area again at the #2 level and now keep the grass at a manageable routine cutting! Don't waste your money on a more expensive tractor! Oh ant this tractor climbs a mean grade, I had to buy chains so the bike tires wouldn't slip and it went right up the hill!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 420CC 42" rider without anti-scalping deck wheels

I think the next level up rider with a better transmission and anti-scalping wheels on the mower deck is the better choice if the lawn being cut has any type of inclines. Even with the anti-scalping wheels on the deck you can still scalp the lawn but wheels help and better transmission for an extra $100 might be worth it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
