Craftsman  42'' Advanced Mulching and Bagging Blade Set

These are thicker than the standard blades and really seem to pick up.I use them with a mulching vac attachment and the combo does a great job.

This blade set was selected by the online help service for my mower. It doesn't fit. One has a 5-point star hub and the other a 6-point star. This kind of careless is so common to Sears. The blades themselves appear to be excellent and a good value.

I was really surprised at how good this blade mulched. If you have a lot of trees and leaves this is the blade you need.

These are heavier duty blades than those that came on the original tractor mower. Hope they will last longer because of the sand wear we have here in SC.

I question the engineering and effectiveness of the fins. The outer fin wears quickly and then breaks off resulting in a small piece of metal being discharged at a high rate of speed.

Excellent blade for mulching. Easy to install. The blade mulches so well that no residue is visible.

I thought to my self that it was time to replace the blades before the spring cutting season gets here. I looked at some replacement blades at other stores and found them to be of a less quality than the blades I purchased at sears. They were thin and light weight. They just seemed like I would replace them after the first cut so I went to sears wher I could what was needed. These blades are the best. I bought a set for my lawn mower and they were easy to install. They are really heavy duty. I do believe they are a lot stronger than the blades that came installed on the lawn mower when I first purchased it. They cut through the grass in my yard like it is paper. I hit a rock once with them and checked the blades, there was no indication that there was any damage to the blades. Thank God for craftsman tools. Strong and dependable. The cost was just a bit higher than I thought they would be but after using them, they were well worth what I paid. I just bought a new set to put on my fathers lawn mower. His were getting bad and cutting on a slant, were starting to dig in the ground,and from that getting bent. These are heavy duty enough that this won't happen again. Thanks sears and craftsman for making a product that works and last like the tools we want them to.

Have used simular designed blades on a Honda Mower and they are great all around blade, cuts grass into smaller pieces and really tear up leaves. Thought they would fit my Revolution lawn tractor, but the star pattern in the middle was just different enough so they would not fit. Why so many different hole patterns?

This is a heavier than normal grass cutting blades and the momentium cuts extremely well through fall leaves (buildup), grass, and even small limbs (finger size).  The best blade I've used to date in my Craftsman riding mower.

I use these blades on my new tractor 28856 yt4000. I bought the mulching kit with the discharge chute plug and different blades but it didnt mulch so well. So I got these blades and they work great. They pulverize leaves/debris great too. They are much heavier and thicker than the standard blades that came with my tractor, and the blades that came with the mulching kit. I bought a new house with an acre yard with some big tress and the leaf raking had been taking a long time the last several weeks. I got the 2 bin soft bagger for my tractor to be able to mow/bag the leaves. I wasnt sure what blade would be best. I figured that i'd put the original blades back on and that would be best to discharge the leaves into the bagger. They did that fine but the leaves were not chopped-up at all and the bags filled up real fast. I put the blades from the mulch kit on, and not much different. I wasnt sure these blades would provide enough lift to bag but boy was I wrong. With these blades on they mulch/pulverize the leaves like they normally do when mulching with the plug but they also provided more than enough lift to bag the leaves. The bags fill up a lot less quickly and are full of finely pulverized leaves. Very happy with results.
