Great product - TERRIBLE INSTALLATION
Do yourself a HUGE favor and buy four 5/16" x 1" HEX-HEAD stainless or galvanized bolts and matching nuts and lock washers, and throw out the black bolts and gold-colored stainless nuts they provide you. Installation with the phillips-head bolts and the self locking nuts they provided was terrible!! Because it's a lock-nut, the nut requires tremendous torque to get it onto the bolt. With a phillips-headed bolt that you're trying to hold in place up inside the mower deck, you're almost guaranteed to strip at least some of them. I figured I could get these installed in about a half hour - It ended up taking me three times that! Once they were installed, great product... and those bolts ain't going nowhere... but the engineers who wrote the assembly directions and decided what bolts to go with the product should try an install themselves... I guaranty they'd change the bolt specs to hex head! Bottom line, buy hex-head bolts!! Good luck.

42" gauge wheel kit

I was looking for a wheel kit for my Craftsman LT1000 mower with a 42" deck. Found these. Did not realize until they arrived via UPS that these are for the FRONT of the mower deck. No where on the online description did they mention these were for the front of the mower deck. After looking long and hard, I finally found the ones for the rear of the mower deck, or at least I think I have. They at least show a picture of them mounted on the rear of the mower deck. I am returning the others.

They do the job.

Installation was fairly straight forward; and the inclusion of a very good drill bit was extremely helpful. Instructions for wheel placement were not clear; and I don't think that they applied to the LT 1500 mower.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

not what you expect

This kit is only for the front you will have to buy two of them the brackets are interchangable for front and rear and left to right. The site says wheel kit the box says front wheel kit. Other than that works well.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Front Gauge Wheel Kit not that bad to install.

1) First off, make sure that you have a #3 Phillips (the other reviewer was probably trying a #2 and thus the stripping). 2) With my LTS 1500 I did not have to drop the deck per the instructions, just turn your wheels hard left to do the right side. 3) Make sure that you have a 11/32 drill bit (if I remember right), cause the one supplied is too small for the bolts that are supplied (unless you want to do a lot of filing). 4) Use a 1/4" piece of scrap wood with your 1/2" mark on the lip of the deck to make the RH bracket install easier. 5) As recommended, use a center punch. 6) Don't get hung up on the rectangular area that is not on the deck of some models (I didn't have one either), just make sure that the bracket will set the wheel in a parallel direction to the mower. 7) If you go by the 1/2" gap for the RH bracket you may only be able to use the front 2 wheel holes with a mulching kit, otherwise the clip may rub the wheels. Pros: Easy to install, saves the deck from diving into uneven ground. Cons: Too small of a drill bit supplied, cannot use rear gauge wheel mounting holes without gauge wheels rubbing mulching kit clip.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

42" mower deck wheels

Like other reviewers, it was a pain to install the left wheel. Instructions say to line it up with the rectangular pad on the deck. There is no pad on the deck. I guessed the location and was off a little. The wheels do keep the deck from scraping the ground. It was worth the effort to keep the deck cutting level.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
