I've owned my riding mower for over a year and I was torn between purchasing the bagger set or mulching kit. I figured try out mulcher since it was the cheapest. It took about 2 hours to installed the kit. I tried it out and it works great!! The cover blew off at first, so I had to adjust it to stay on. Before, I left a great deal of clippings around and it blew dirt and grass all over. Not now, it cuts so fine, clean up is easy and quick. A great alternative to the bagger system.

I did not need blades only the mulch cover. one cannot order just the cover which forces you to purchase a product that you do not need. i changed my blades already and did not need two more.

I have had the mulch kit for at least 5 years. It performs well. In spite of other reviews, it is possible that this mulch kit will still leave clumps of grass, and, leaf debris behind. I am on at least my second set of blades. I use my Craftsman 42" riding tractor that I've had for 7 years exclusively on my lawn only, for which I got this mulch kit shorty thereafter. I have 30,000 square feet of grass to cut. If I let my grass get too long, it will still clump. In the fall, I have too many leaves to mulch. For a mulch kit installed to a traditional mower deck and not a deck purpose built for mulching, I'd say this kit performs reasonably well.

I've used this mulcher 3 times. I've cut a very bumpy 1.2 acre. The mulcher works great. I read other reviews about the discharge block coming off the mower. I believe they installed the rubber strap incorrectly. The stud that the rubber strap connects to should be installed with the stud down and the nut on top. This puts good tension on the discharge block to hold it in place. The mulcher fits Craftsman LT1500, Troybilt pony, and Murray 42" 17.5 HP mowers.

Installed easily. Works great! No raking of leaves (and I had a lot of them). Blades are holding up well, considering I have pine cones and sticks that I run over.

Spoke with the sales associate we bought our 42" zero turn and this mulch kit from and he said I was probably the 3-4th person with the same exact problem. The mulch plug is a joke when it comes to fitting on the existing side chute cover, I barely have the plug on currently and just waiting to hit the incorrect bump for it to pop off. The blades are nice, but without a good quality mulch plug the blades are pointless. Just mowed our lawn 3 times so far with the mulching kit and most of the grass shoots out of the pockets that are formed when trying the get the plug fitted...does craftsman/sears even check their products prior to incorporating them into production??

The first day installed within 15 minutes. Half way through the job the rubber strap broke, no problem I will just get another one. What a joke, you have to buy the whole plug $14.99. I guess I will return tomorrow for refund.
