Product Description

The Craftsman 46 inch Riding Tractor Combines Power With Close-Cutting Ability

The Craftsman 46 inch Turn Tight Hydrostatic Yard Tractor is every bit as powerful as it looks. Featuring a hefty 21 horsepower and a 540 cc engine with an automatic transmission, this tractor is a beast under the hood. An unbelievably tight 6 inch turning radius literally lets you cut corners while you're swooping around obstacles, and it has quite a bit of finesse, too. Add an adjustable sliding seat, cruise control and cup holder to the other features and you have a powerful, skillful riding lawn mower that's comfortable and easy to use.

You'll be able to use the Craftsman 46 inch Riding Tractor for a number of years. The rail frame is made of 16-gauge steel, and the hydrostatic transmission is designed for speed, power and durability. The gauge wheels and steel axle are built to last as well. In fact, the axle carries a lifetime warranty. Accessories such as a dump cart or snow plow can turn your tractor into an all-season, all-purpose machine.

  • The Craftsman 46 inch Turn Tight Hydrostatic Yard Tractor is powerful, versatile and durable
  • Built with exclusive Craftsman Turn Tight Technology, its 6 in. turning radius is best in its class
  • 21 hp* Briggs & Stratton Platinum engine has full pressure lube
  • 46' precision cut mowing system is adjustable up to 4-inches
  • Mower can mulch or catch clippings in a bag that's sold separately
  • From its steel frame to its four adjustable gauge wheels, this mower is meant to last
  • Premium hydrostatic automatic transmission shifts cleanly and seamlessly
  • Gear shift is located on the fender, within easy reach and out of the way in the middle so you can have an unencumbered step-through area
  • Handy cup holder and cushioned, sliding seat keep you comfortable while you work

Great American Built Product !!

Very nice lawn tractor, it's my third one and I like this one the best, the tight turning is my favorite feature as well as the hydro transmittion with the control on the fender not at your foot like the huskvarna model--this tractor is atcually made by huskvarna but to sears specs, tractor mows like a dream, of coarse you need to true the mower deck-no big deal and I'd rather do it myself, overall this tractor is well thought out and built well, it even has a cup and cell phone holder !  the ad is not very specific but this tractor does come with the cast iron lifetime front axel, I would highly recomend this  tractor and the price is buy far the best when it's on sale

Poor quality control

First of all, I really wanted this tractor to work out well. Problem was from day one (4/2/2011). First of all the seat was scratched up. Not too big of a deal. But when I started it up for the first time - I had it in neutral,l released the brake and off I went - In reverse! In neutral! It would do this even if the blades were engaged, which is a big safety issue. I had to keep one hand on the transmission lever and steer with the other or the thing would slow down and come to a stop. Other than this it seemed ok. I became a little more familiar with the unit as I had to level the deck both side to side and front to back. It looked like the transmission issue would be a simple adjustment, so I scheduled a service call. Bad enough I needed service on my new mower, but while the tech was testing it, the mower just quit running. Wouldn't start again. He suggested I return it for a new one. Not sure yet what I'll do, but beware.

This thing kicks ****!

I have 2.5 acres mostly on a hill and this tractor kicks ****! I have let the weeds out front grow to 2 feet high and it plowed right through. (I don't usually let it get past 6 inches, but its nice to know this tractor will do the job!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Good machine, but the seats a little wonky...

Easy to use from the moment it was delivered. Great power and manuverability. I've only used it a couple of times now but the only negative I can see is that the seat slides out of position when your hard braking otherwise it would have gotten 5 stars...

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Many problems

I bought this tractor a year ago. The first one i had to take back becuase the started would not dis engage and the tractor would not stop running. Got the next one and the vibrations were crazy called them to come out and they put a new belt on. Seems a little better. So 2 weeks later i'm riding along cutting the grass and a huge puff of white smoke comes out of the exhaust. I looked into the problem and the factory over filled the motor with oil. Craftsman and Sears have completely given up on customer service. Both of them just try to pass you around until you fix it yourself.

Excellent tractor

This is my first tractor. I just moved into a home on 1 acre. The property was extremely over grown with weeds, brush, etc. This tractor handled 4-5' tall, very thick weeds with no trouble at all. I was able to clear the entire property in one day. This tractor is a great value and a true work horse! I did not experience any of the vibration issues other's wrote about (It is a tractor, not a car so some vibration is expected). My Dad also had this tractor for his 2 acre property and he highly recommended it to me. Glad he did. Bottom line, Great tractor at a great price.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Don't like the hand gas throttle

Bought this lawn tractor less than a month ago. I have used it several times. Here are my complaints. I DON'T like the hand throttle at all. I also don't like the brake on the left side. The gas indicator does not work. You can never see the level of the gas in the tank. The steering wheel is rough on the underside in certain areas. On the good side it does mow well but does seem to run rough and does have a good turning radius. Would I purchase it again, NO.

Nice mower with handy transmission control

Very pleased, I just put gas in and checked the oil and it was ready to mow. I had to replace (retire) my Sears garden tractor of 38 years and tried my son inlaws JD hydrostaic foot control mower. Having to constantly push on the pedal twisted my back and caused it to ache after each mowing. When I saw the hand control on this mower, where you just set it and go, I knew that was what I wanted. It's like cruise control. The mower had plenty of power and a very comfortable seat. Just the mower I was looking for.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
