I've worked with Sears for many years. If you are comparing what zero turns to buy from Sears. Stick with any Zero turn you can find with a Kohler engine and built by Husqvarna. You will get more use, for time and money. MTD which controls 95% of residential mowers. MTD is doo doo compared to Husqvarna. Any item that starts model number 917. is Husqvarna, 247. Is MTD

Owned this lawntractor almost nine months and it's been a great mower. I've only had one small problem and that's the belt jumping off but that's been due to the grass being to thick and high. After getting the grass down its mowed my 2 1/2 acre lawn with no problem. I'd highly recommend this mower.

Good lawn mower, cuts great but easy to hang up. Goes very good uphill but gravity takes over down hills.always back down hills for traction safety.
I just got this mower this summer and are very pleased. It won't make you forget about the commercial units but cuts and steers very well. This is my first zero turn and i would never cut with a standard tractor again except on steep grades.
I've had my mower for a couple weeks now and really love it. If I were to pick one design flaw it would be that the mower deck Doesn't raise high enough for my liking. Other then that it's a super mower.
i started with an old style lawn tractor but it wasn't "cutting" it anymore i bought a house with a lot more land and had to upgrade to a bigger faster mower. this mower has cut my mowing time in half which is a a welcome change

First season using this mower, so take comments in that light. Fast and easy starting, Put a mulch kit on it, not easy, but not too hard. Clean it after every mow, but cuttings still gather under deck. Not cutting evenly, have to go over some spots. Price was good.
I mow 1-1/2 acres; my wife has planted a hundred plants and trees! No kidding. Compared to a garden tractor / riding mower, the zero machines are fantastic; mowing time are 1/3 less. When going to a zero, what sold me on this particular unit was the cutting width, the engine, the price, and confidence in Sears. Ground speed is very good; the controls are very precise and positive. You can control it in a manner that lets you put the deck exactly where you want it to be. A few things that are not so great about the unit: the rough ride, which can be softened by lowering air pressure (a little); that it spins a tire easily when trying to back up while turning (you have to bump the other control FWD to get it to back up) - this you will get used to; that the blade control shuts off while backing - using both controls is a awkward; the big negative that I had was the lack of good clipping discharge and that the deck gets really plugged up on certain weedy portions of the property, which is nasty to clean out and takes time. The water clean out, for one, isn't a good idea and two, doesn't work all that well. It would plug up so badly that I had to stop mowing and have to clean it out. This was so frustrating at times, I would hop on the old mower, which does not plug up. (its a 2 blade sears 38"). If you have nice grass you probably won't have such an issue with this that I had. I re-engineered inside the deck and have made it 50% better. 1. removed all the screws that stick down too far into the deck (if it took 1" screws they installed 2") and replaced them with bolts, nuts and washers with the bolt heads, down. 2. lift the discharge chute all the way up when in the 'bad' stuff. 3. remove the black curved part inside the deck that was poorly designed. My next step was going to be open up the front of the deck, but I didn't have to. It works well enough now. My blades are kept sharp and replaced when 'lift' side shows wear. I feel that I shouldn't have had to re-engineer the product, but it was either send it back or make it work. I elected to make it work. Most people wouldn't go through this. The only thing wrong with the unit is the Hour Meter. It has never worked. I finally decided to call Sears and arrange to have it repaired. Another point I would like to make about a zero mower in general; there is a small learning curve and they cut close to what you want to cut close to. When making one pass the deck doesn't literally cut close around things; the tires have to clear the 'thing'. It requires pulling up, then swinging left; and this repeated to get the results you want. This greatly reduces your weed eater work. I say I won't recommend this product, but with the stipulation that if the yard is nice grass, it will work OK. For the money this is a good mower... after a little tweaking.
