Great Tractor
Starts right up out of the packing crate. Runs smooth and lots of power The height adjustments are a lot easier to use and there are more to choose from. They have separated the forward and reverse. direction pedals. The only draw back I have found is the height adjustment lever is a little to long and catches your pants or leg when you get off that side of the tractor.

Transmission GRINDING in Reverse
One week old with less than 8 hours and transmission makes bad grinding noise in reverse. Also, it is SO difficult to make it goes into reverse. I must use my hand to "grab the forward pedal and pull it backward while the foot is pressing on the reverse pedal"

Great rider for the money

Mows good and picks up EVERYTHING!!! I got the triple bagger with it and works super. Tractor is very fast compared to my Simplicity and Cu Cadet. That really helps on cutting time. I am not a fan of the reverse pedal but small thing. I would buy again. This isa Husqvarna in Sears paint color so all parts should be competitively priced and available!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Much to like about this tractor

I have been using this tractor for 3 mos. after using an 11hp Wheelhorse tractor for 28 years. The Wheelhorse still works, but the 42? rear discharge deck rusted through. There are many pros associated with the new Craftsman, such as: more power, tighter turning, quieter, less vibration, wider deck, more comfortable seat, easy to adjust deck height, wash port, and continuously variable speed. However there are a few cons, the most significant of which is the accelerator pedal. It?s too high. If it were not for the cruise control, I would have returned it. You cannot rest your heel and control the pedal. When I first used the tractor, the cruise control would not engage. A repairman came out and straightened a bent rod, but it still would not engage reliably. The cruise control is mechanical and when you lift the control to engage it, it connects to a rocker that causes a rod to engage the teeth of a gear. I learned that you have to hold the plastic control between your thumb and fingers and pull rearward with your thumb on top as if to rotate the control downward. Once I mastered the technique, the cruise control works fine. Two other minor problems are that it is impossible to see the fuel through the sightglass in any lighting condition, even with a flashlight. As others have mentioned, the convenient deck height control gets in the way of your mount/dismount. This tractor has shortened the time it takes me to mow 1.5 acres, although I still prefer a rear discharge deck. I have not experienced problems using reverse, but my lawn is flat.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
runs great.

Have ran this machine for about 3 months or so and haven't had a single problem with this unit. Cuts great and even. My only gripes with this machine is that the seat being black gets very hot when left in the sun. Would have been nice if it were red or any other color to mitigate this. I actually bought a JD seat cover since it was yellow to stay cool and it has pockets on the back. Also the gass gauge window is useless. It's so small and rudimentary that you can't use it. But other than that happy buy. Never had any problems with the reverse being slow or noise. It's not very fast but I can go up an incline in reverse no problem so long as I can keep traction. I can cut my one acre in half an hour. Would be nice if the chute for mowing was easily removable since I'll never use it since I always mulch or bag.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

48 Inch tractor

This machine is a beast! It cuts well where I have actually grass. It does a good job on the buffalo grass in my yard. It takes two passes to cut the full blade width but short of a brushhog thats the best I can do with any lawn tract

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Tractor When I Can Use It

This tractor was awesome for the first 20Hrs. of use. I received it at the end of June and I was happy with it until the end of August. It squeaked ever since it was delivered and I thought it was the wheel in the middle of the deck, well it turned out to be the front wheel spindle. The part was ordered twice and never shipped. Sears is delivering a new mower to replace the one I have this weekend.

Overall
beware, do not buy this machine

Purchased Craftsman 917.20391 mower 4-12-14 Delivered 1st machine to our home on 4-21-14, upon inspection spark plug was broken, Svc tech arrived 4-26-14 and replaced spark plug, took keys out of package and svc tech started machine and clutch assembly fell out of bottom of machine onto the ground. New machine ordered with svc tech. Delivered 2nd machine to our home on 5-1-14. Stopped into store and requested svc call on 2nd machine. Light harness burnt, hood bent, wheels on deck bent, back right wheel on deck sticks and does not rotate, grinding noise in reverse. I had 6 service calls, about 15 days of waiting for service tech and dealing with sales people and general manager in store. they have replaced about $1500 dollars worth of parts on two new machines, the price of the new machine was about $2000, do the math. I finally received a full refund 8-11-14. I have been an owner of craftsman lawn mowers for nearly 30 years.I will not purchase again. Do not buy this machine!

Overall
Very well built mower - compared to others out there

After looking at several used 48" Decks and mower along with new multiple brands The craftsman mower has heavier frame, deck material is stamped and heavy duty, Seat is super nice. Just overall a strong machine. The hood is metal like my old one. Unlike others on here the automatic CVT is strong. Very happy with the purchase and very glad to have purchsed this one.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 22hp 48"turn tight fast riding mower

I'm a rual home owner in North Carolina with grass on various terrians. Some hilly, some flat some very thick and fast growing fescue. I've found the v-twin has all the power I need to cut the heavy grass even if it's damp. The tight turns are amazing the top speed available is seldom used mowing but very handy when going from one section to another. I love the hydrastatic transmission, the foot controls are very easy to get use too for myself. I've had absolutely no issues with anythng on the mower. I like the lower stance which is more comfortable and safe on the hilly conditions. I've used it once a week for the last month and it has reduced my mowng time by 40%. I've had a Cub Kadett, a Snapper, a Toro and a Husky and this Craftsman is my favorite.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
