Yes, the directions are hard to follow and yes, you really could use two people to carry and assist during assembly but overall it is exactly what it states. Garage shelving, sturdy and space saving. My wife parks in our single garage and this allowed me to clean up a mess. You know the old saying, 'Happy wife, happy life'.

I am pleased with the item. It will last a long time without sagging shelves. The instructions are atrocious so make sure you have time and patience to put it together. I still don't know if the center shelf was installed right! I do recommended though.

My first shelf was delivered to my home damaged. I returned it to my local store and received an undamaged set. It took 2 people to carry it and 2 to put it together. The instructions were extremely unhelpful. There is nothing saying up/down or assemble this way. I put together and broke down each section at least 4 times...very frustrating. Very disappointed in craftsman. Its not the craftsman my Dad has...not by a long shot

First off - this is a two person assembly though I did it myself. It would have gone a lot faster with a second set of hands. Ordered online when on sale and picked up at local Sears. No damage or scratches. Hardware is good quality, assembly instructions are vague (keeping with Craftsman tradition). Shelving is solid and goes together from bottom to top. I opted to flip the shelves and have "closed" edges to help keep things from falling off. The five 48" x 24" shelves give you 40 sq ft of storage space! Looks great next to my Craftsman tool boxes and bench.

Very easy to assemble and liked the option to have a closed or open shelf space. Also very heavy duty,

This shelve is an eye pleaser. I would recommend it for light duty though (aerosol cans, small parts, stereo, etc. ). A little difficult to assemble. The instructions were not accurate.

I really love the new shelves now that they are together. However, the instructions are horrible and assembly is more a matter of "trial and error" until you figure things out. The "quick connect" system is a complete oxymoron. They should have called it the "I wish I could grow a third arm" connection system as holding two pieces of metal, a quick connector and a screw together is challenging. Consider assembly to be a two person job if you want to retain your sanity. I was also a little suprised by how easily the metal shelves scratch. I have plastic bins sitting on my shelves and the metal shelves are already scratched. I couldn't image what metal tools would do to the paint (yikes!). As for asethics - the shelves look awesome. What garage couldn't benefit from a little fire engine red!

I am not a contractor or I do not work with tools on a daily basis but a few days a week would go to show that I am not a "rookie". I was not that impressed with this shelving unit but after the pieces are together it seems sturdy. Let me just give some advice that I could have used when attempting to put this item together. Use that allen wrench or one of your own that may be longer to get all of the pieces together. Do not use a drill as I began this project with. The screw heads are very soft and will not stand up to accidental over tightening. I actually had to drill out three of the screws because of this. This project took much longer than should have taken and I probably could have went to a lumber yard, purchased the wood, and built one from scratch in the time it took me to put this item together. As someone stated, it does go together SOMEWHAT easily. The directions are a little confusing but overall I am happy with my purchase. I also recommend that you have another person when putting this item together. I did it by myself but it would have been much easier with someone else.

I bought this shelf primarily because it is constructed of all metal. It seemed like a much more sturdy solution than the cheap plastic shelves you see on sale all the time. My guess was correct. The all metal structure is solid and works great to store my lawn and garden tools and other garage stuff. Assembly is a little tricky at first until you get used to the clips they include. After the first shelf is assembled things go quick from there. The instructions are pretty lame...but with a some experimentation you'll get it. Use the illustrations to get you through. Would recommend this shelf and would buy again.
