Craftsman sockets are a great tool to add to a tool box

The Craftsman 1/2 inch drive, 12 point, 5/8 inch socket is a great tool to add to your tool box.  I have used the old style sockets without the laser etching for a long time without any problems.  They are good tools for the money.  I have never had to return any of my Craftsman sockets for warranty.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Grabs every fastener...

You have to be careful when you are using a 12 point socket, right?  Fear of rounding off the corners of a fastener, right?  That's why we keep a set of 6 point sockets deep in the tool box.

Well, not any more.  In recent years Craftsman has started to produce its sockets in compliance with AS954 (Aerospace Specification).  That is the rounded-out area on the socket where the sharp points used to be located.  The socket contacts the fastener 5% "down" from the corner applying force against the flat surface of the fastener.  One of the companies that has tool trucks had the patent on this process for years but the patent has expired and we are seeing many tool companies offer this design.  None as affordably as Craftsman, however.

There is not a good reason to have multiple sets of sockets any more.  Well, unless you just like to look at all those sockets. ;=}
