Bought this online so I didn't touch and feel it. Not the same quality as my old Craftsman tool chests. Thin sheet metal in drawers, cheap casters, friction drawer slides.
Should have spent the extra money to at least get one with ball bearing drawer slides.

I've got other Craftsman boxes and benches in my garage. I paid full retail at $199. I would say it would be a great buy for $150 as the metal seems thinner than other Craftsman. Some tips: Grease the drawers, use a rubber hammer to bend in the box so the drawers slide out easier.

I really like this tool chest, the design is perfect for what I was looking for. I was REALLY surprised about the Poor Condition that it came in. Dented on one corner, side pushed in. Some of the rails bent so bad, the sliders won't even stay in. If it was't Closeout, I'd return it. But I'll have to make due. Oddly enough, the box showed no damage, this had to be a return or something. Very Surprised this was sent back out. C'mon Sears

Removed from box, found damaged, drawers out of line not opening properly. I will be returning. The concept would work for the jobs I am doing.

Mine was called 5-Drawer Basic Project Center, but looks to be the same item. Check this at the store before you take it home! The first one I received, the box looked fine on the outside, but while unboxing, one corner was appreciably smashed and there were indentations in the back of the cabinet, apparently from the drawers whacking into it during its fall onto the corner. A big hassle for me, I had to box it back up and drag it back to the store, after waiting for a couple weeks for them to obtain another one for my exchange. Well, the second one on unboxing had the front two corners compressed, slightly flexing the metal in the top of the front of the cabinet. I guess I am calling this one good enough and keeping it, rather than waiting for yet another replacement which is probably similarly insufficienctly protected by its packing. All that out of the way, I like it. I don't have room for a full work bench in my cluttered basement, so it is nice to have a flat space to work on, as well as store my tools and easily move around. The metal construction is not heavy duty, but is fine unless you drop it from up high. The drawers are on slides as many have said, but they slide fine. The top caddy is a nice addition and has storage under the wood workspace as well as next to it. The casters are nice and big and turn easy, and the integrated power strip make it easy to keep a clip-light attached to it.

My wife got this for me for Christmas, What can I say never let you wife buy you tools ever. It is heavy it is clunky, and it is not well put together. Whoever the idiot was who put in 2 casters that turned and 2 casters that don't turn, and don't line up with the holes that are pre drilled needs to be fired. Sure go ahead and load your tools up, the first thing that is going to break is the cheap rails on this. The entire product is cheaply put together. I will say this if you put more than 10 pounds of tools in each bin you will break the rails. To bad my wife screwed up bought this item on 9/21 and now its 12/26 and I cant return this peace of junk to sears.

First off my wife bought this for me for Chistmas, she screwed up not knowing anything about tools, she should have consulted somebody who did. She got this in september and had them hold it until day before yesterday. Well sears says tough you can not return this. Let me start out by saying the casters are cheep, the sheet metal is so thin I can punch a hole in it with a screw driver. This rails on this are friction based not bearing. That means your drawers will break if you put to much weight in them. My main concern is the sheet metal on the drawers is so thin they will bend if you put to much in a drawer.

When I saw this Item (5-Drawer Powered Basic Center) I right away Like it and It was On Sale!, It was just perfect to Organized my Handy Man Tools which kept it secured and Kept co workers from taking and using my tools @ work. I could even roll it to a closer project job when needed. I'm looking for another sale that's larger and greater bargain and very affordable during this tough economic recession! :)
