Great Little Tank
I bought this 5 gal portable tank as a "companion" for the 17 gal compressor/tank that my wife gave me for Christmas this year. While it's great having the big compressor and tank in my garage, there are often times when I just need a few gallons on hand to top off car tires etc. This 5 gal unit is perfect for this purpose. I use the big unit to fill this one up and then carry the little one behind the passenger seat of my F-150 work truck. It tucks neatly away behind the seat, or in the trunk of my car, then I always have a few gallons/psi nearby when I need it. Best of all, the portable unit seems to hold a charge very well. I last filled it to 125-130 psi about 3 weeks ago and it has not lost any pressure while it has been stored.

Defective upon arrival
The intake valve leaked profusely the very first time I tried to use the tank. The Schrader valve appears to be defective. Thanks Sears! Could you have tested this before shipping it to a customer?

Air Tank

Great for moving around your vehicle to inflate tires or balls. Without using your air compressor.

Good Tank For The Price

I bought this tank at my local Sears and picked it up at the store. There was a noise from inside the tank so I remove the top valve and emptied out about a 1/8 cup of small metal balls which probably came from the wielding process and that's why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. The tank hols pressure for a long time with no leaks and the gauge seems to be accurate. I am going to replace the hose because it is to short and I can't change the fitting at the end because it is one piece but all of the tanks that I saw had the same design. I also added three rubber feet to the bottom because there isn't any protection at all. It seems every time I buy a craftsman product I end up have to adjust or modify the item before I can put it to use. The pressure gauge does seems to read correctly and the on off valve is plastic so we will see how long it will last.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This tank is absolutely the best value for the money. It is a quality product and performs excellently. It never loses air! As usual Craftsman lives up to its reputation.

Avoid this tank ... LIttle to no quality control

Stuff was busted off and rattling around in the tank as received; new. It sounded like metal. The name Craftsman used to mean something. This tank is not a good example.

Adequate, not great

I don't think I'll shock anyone by stating that "Craftsman" does not necessarily equate to "Quality" anymore. Case in point is this air tank. The air hose is a flimsy cloth covered item with a chuck that was incapable of putting air into a tire. Did a great job letting air out, though. I ended up pitching the hose and chuck and going to H.F. for a decent 3' hose and put a female coupler on it. Easy fix, but shouldn't have been necessary. The tank and brass hardware seem sound enough, but the valve/gauge assembly was installed with some kind of thread sealant that created a gooey mess and was an effective paint remover. To it's credit, the tank held 90psi for a week with no leakage. Bottom line, I'd tell a friend to pick it up on sale and spend the difference on better hardware.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
