2.4 Amp motor provides power for a smooth, professional finish. Counterbalaced, compact, lightweight design eliminates vibration. The random orbit action increases stock removal and duplicates hand sanding motion while providing a virtually swirl free finish. The sander emits 13000 orbits per minute allowing rapid stock removal. A sealed slide switch is conveniently located for easy on/off. Ball and sleeve bearings are permanently lubricated for smooth, service-free life. The sander has a 5 in. diameter pad and comes with a removable dust bag.

I took a HUGE interest in DIY projects. My Family is Craftsman Loyalists and I speaking of 4 generations and over 40 years of purchases. I purchased this sander August 2013 and had so many ideas of how I was going to put it to good use :) Project# 1 - chipped pain on railings on front porch. A few steps were required before I used the sander which was using a wire brush to remove chipped paint. I then needed to clean railing. I used multiple grits of sand paper starting with 60 in some areas where the paint was a bit stubborn and 80 on other areas where the paint was removing easier. I worked my way down to a fine grit. The thought of using a "dustless sander" and dustless sanding discs made the job easy, not messy and not time consuming. Prpject #2 - Kitchen and Bathroom cabinets installed Aug 1963. These are the cabinets at the time my Uncle purchased the home in 1963. He sold the home to me in Aug 2009. Over the past 5 years I decided to keep the antique look but upgrade it to modern times. Starting light fixtures, window treatments, etc All cabinets were lightly stained and you can imagine what they looked like 50 years later (very faded). Begin by thoroughly washing grease and wax off the cabinets with Murphy's Oil Soap. Had to use a coarse, medium and fine sandpaper and I did got through 50 sand paper discs. I started the project earlier this year but got distracted with other important family matters so I had to put this project on hold. Well I finally wrapped it up last week. PROS: Compact, lightweight, dust collector works awesome,Cord is a great length. Unit is very, very quiet as I was able to run it early in the morning and not wake up the family. Spin Control that provides a virtually swirl free finish The sanding discs I use and recommend is either Bosch or Mirka (5inch- 8 hole) easy to install and worth every cent. I have used it for hours on end for each project I listed above and there has NOT been any problems with the power, works like it is still brand new. HIGHLY recommended!! CRAFTSMAN STICKS by their products and I WILL REMAIN A LOYAL CUSTOMER
For the price, it's great. I've had it for about 2-3 years now and have used the guts out of it. I've used it for hours on end per project and it's done well with lots of power and NO problems.

Needed a small sander, was hoping for an orbital and for under $40 you can't go wrong. Has good power and not overly heavy. Dust collection does a decent job (but remember you are still sanding afterall). Would I buy again? YES!!
so far so good. it serve a purpose. I use it once in a while around the house and the price is cheap so I am fully recommend it. for professional use, please look for something better.
Bought this sander to help finish off a furniture project and so far it has worked great. It could use a longer cord, it's tough to use on large panels without an extension cord but that's very minor. Also, shop vac dust port connection isn't the strongest and requires constant attention. However, for the money, this sander seems like a solid purchase so far.
The craftsman 5 in, dustless random orbit sander is an excellent buy for anyone who loves craftsman tools. I bought this for my husband for our anniversary he used it within minutes of opening and absolutely loves it.
very light with low vibration, dust collector works great. unit is also very quite and the cord is at a great length. very even sander. and pad are easy to install

Very disappointed in the craftsman line, compared to what they used to be decades ago growing up, my father had a line of tools that were much more quality as they were made in the USA. Now, everything has Made in China on it, and the quality is showing. I purchased this sander to do small projects on the house, on my second project, I was sanding down a crib, and the sander had started smoking and making weird noises. Once this unit is completely unfunctional, I will be buying a higher end model from another brand.
