As anyone that knows me or reads my posts knows, I am an avid Craftsman fan. With that said, as awesome as the 5 piece Craftsman Chisel Set is, for the price I actually like the Stanley chisel set better. First let me talk about the steel in the chisel. The steel is hardened steel and holds an edge extremely well. I was able to use three of five chisels straight out of the packaging with only running each across a leather strap and they were ready to go. The other two did require some sharpening on my diamond sharpeners but took an edge quickly. One of these two required a little more work as it had a small knick that would have shown up in any work I attempted to use it on. Overall on the task, a cart, each of these chisels did make quick work of the job and I have no complaints in this area. Now for the reason I prefer the Stanley chisel set better them my trusted Craftsman. I realize part of this is just being picky but it is the way I feel about the tool. The Craftsman handles are a molded black plastic. They made some effort at getting them molded to fit a person's hand while they worked but failed miserably. Additionally, the molded plastic has very little if any grip when your hands get sweaty or wet. The Stanley on the other hand also has molded handles but they are made using a hard clear yellow tinted plastic with a non-slip black rubber molded into the design for better performance. This two piece construction feels better in the hand but also is more secure when your hands become wet and slippery. While the design of the grip is similar to that of Craftsman, the Stanley grip just feels much more comfortable and safe. Lastly, the color combination actually makes it more pleasing to the eye as well but that is taking my pickiness to the extreme. :-)

Good strong chisels. If you have to sharpen a Lot the blade could be longer, would recommend

This set has been used more since i purchased it than I thought I would have. It has done everything I have subjected it to and more. Blades have stayed RAZOR Sharp even after being used on some hard woods. I have also acquired the other two blades bigger in width.

Just got these yesterday to put in a deadbolt for my house. They are sturdy and solid. A little on the heavy side, maybe, but I think that just helps them feel solid during use. They fit my hands perfectly (glove size XL) and the butt plate takes a hammering without any serious marring. I've only had them a short while but I'd guess they'll last forever. After all, they're craftsman, right? The range of sizes is nice too. It gives confidence that I'll always have the right size for the job.

We built a log home and my job was to chisel ALL the sharp nobs off, while my husband used the chisel set to correct butt and pass corners for log placement. Craftsman REPLACED one of the chisels AND our chisel Hammer FOR FREE after Continual USE and ABUSE from us!! Sears was our FIRST Choice we made concerning our building tools! I Earned the honor of CHISEL QUEEN of Skwentna and would recommend this product to ANYONE needing a chisel set by Craftsman!

I live in an old house and needed to replace a few boards on the back side of it. The only problem was that they were all cut by hand when it was built, so the new pieces had a few high points where they didn't fit right. I pulled out my chisel set and shaped everything perfectly! These are very sharp and durable, even after all the use and abuse they've went through, they still remain sharp and strong.

I own two sets of these tools. Believe me when you want something small cut out of wood. These are the tools to do the job. Just be careful as they are very sharp. You just need to tap on it lightly to get the depth you want cut out of the wood. I love these and have made making my projects alot easier to work with and get completed.
