As anyone that knows me or reads my posts knows, I am an avid Craftsman fan. With that said, as awesome as the 5 piece Craftsman Chisel Set is, for the price I actually like the Stanley chisel set better. First let me talk about the steel in the chisel. The steel is hardened steel and holds an edge extremely well. I was able to use three of five chisels straight out of the packaging with only running each across a leather strap and they were ready to go. The other two did require some sharpening on my diamond sharpeners but took an edge quickly. One of these two required a little more work as it had a small knick that would have shown up in any work I attempted to use it on. Overall on the task, a cart, each of these chisels did make quick work of the job and I have no complaints in this area. Now for the reason I prefer the Stanley chisel set better them my trusted Craftsman. I realize part of this is just being picky but it is the way I feel about the tool. The Craftsman handles are a molded black plastic. They made some effort at getting them molded to fit a person's hand while they worked but failed miserably. Additionally, the molded plastic has very little if any grip when your hands get sweaty or wet. The Stanley on the other hand also has molded handles but they are made using a hard clear yellow tinted plastic with a non-slip black rubber molded into the design for better performance. This two piece construction feels better in the hand but also is more secure when your hands become wet and slippery. While the design of the grip is similar to that of Craftsman, the Stanley grip just feels much more comfortable and safe. Lastly, the color combination actually makes it more pleasing to the eye as well but that is taking my pickiness to the extreme. :-)
Nice looking set I'm proud to own, can't say they are better than any other brands or type - as these are the only ones I've ever owned. Sure do look nice, are made in U.S.A and look nicer than the price I paid.

I have small projects here and there that I do on the weekend. These chisels are sharp right out of the box and feel comfortable in the hand. I used them a handful of times so far and they've worked well.
These seem to be very good quality and made in USA. The handles are plastic but contoured nicely for good, comfortable grip. These have a rounded metal cap on the striking end. Most chisels I'm familiar with are flat on the top of the handle. I think I will get used to it, just a bit different than other chisels I've used.

I borrowed my dad's chisels and it seemed like every time I used them they were duller than before. I chiseled out the hinges and strike plates for all the doors in my house and they are still as sharp as they were when new. One of them chipped when I tried scraping piece of grout off the floor. Makes sense since they are for wood so that was my mistake.
Great chisel set... Meets almost all woodworking or home repair needs. Sharp and ready for use right out of the box. I just wish they'd bring back the soft carrying sheath that used to come with the older chisel set version. Great set of tools, good enough quality to be a one time buy.
