Unable to cut a straight line even when using a clamped guide. The saw "steered itself" away from the guide on cut 1. Cut 2, I held the saw firmly against the guide and the blade proceeded to have a mind of its own, bending to go in a different direction. Looking at the circular blade holding mechanism, It was rotated about 4 degrees counter-clockwise. Firmly seated and could not be aligned to be parallel to the edges of the base. Really a very poor and weak design. I returned it and looked at other makes. Not ethical to mention the manufacturer of the next Jig saw that I bought, but made in Japan. The blade holding structure in this model was made of two 1/4" x 1/2" hardened steel bars assembled with the necessary cutouts for the blade to be inserted. It made a 1/2" x 1/2" post with a clamping lever on the side of one. The square blade holder protruded through a square guide in the body. The alignment can't veer from parallel to the base edges. A great design.

I just purchased this saw a couple of days ago. I had a specific use in mind, cut rectangular holes in larger pieces of plywood. I have a VERY old jigsaw, that I got from my Grandpa, (think solid steel, and it thinks it runs on fossil fuels) which as worked great up until my last project. As sad as I was that it died, I was excited to get myself a new one. This saw is MUCH lighter than the old one, and still cuts wood like butter. It was much easier to guide, and my blade didn't bend nearly as much as it had with the old saw (side to side) changing blades is a snap. I'm planning on letting my dad borrow it ( don't worry, i'll be writing my name on it :)) to work on his house. It should be able to handle it just fine.

The Crafstman 5.0amp Orbital Saw was the perfect tool for cutting curves in wood projects. Very easy and comfortable to control allowing for more precise and intricate cuts. The added light that shines down on the cutting surface from the saw makes it much easier to see where you're cutting.

Tried to cut a straight line, the saw wandered all over the place. I used a straight edge, held it tight, still wandered all over the place. The problem is ,the blade was not in the Blade Guide,it was riding on the roller wheel part of the Guide. Replace the narrow blade with a wider one.....same results, the blade would not stay in the Blade Guide. Which causes the blade to wander, like useing a wet noodle? So it's back to the store...time to get rid of this headache.... Bill S. Toledo, Oh.
