Thing runs great, very strong, excellent for the price
I have read alot of reviews on this saw before I purchased it. Alot of people complaining about it idling high then low. I know that's part of owning a gas engine, and elevation will mess with the high and low sides, but 5 minutes of tuning fixes those problem. Mine had a stutter when I fired it up, once it warmed up it was one running machine. Had to tweak with the settings a tad to fine tune it for my liking, but I'd put this against my husqvarna 350 any day. Another thing that had me concerned was the chain deal alot of people are having. I have never had that issue with any saw. I have ran this saw for approximately 10 hrs with no chain falling off lol. I have cut over 3 cord of wood with the same chain. I have sharpened it, but still same factory chain. Guess when you buy big boy toys, you better know how to use the big boy toys. I will say, you will need bar oil. This saw likes bar oil. It's not so bad that it's annoying, but it does go thru more than my Husk

Lousy Saw
Bought this saw 16 months ago ran it for 1 season and cut approximately 4 cords of wood and the pull cord broke. Sears wants a minimum $75 to look at it. Replaced the cord myself and now 4 more cords of wood later the spring on the pull start broke. Found a local repair shop who stated it will be a minimum of $150 to repair or I can take it to Sears for the minimum $75 plus parts and labor. So now I have a $200 paper weight. I refuse to pay $150 to fix this peice of junk! If you plan on using this saw for anything but minor limb triming don't buy it! The fact that no one will repair it speaks volumes of the quality! I will never buy another Craftsman product after this experience!

this saw saved me $300 just as good as the expensive brands

this saw takes a replacement chain Oregon d70 chain with the original craftsman bar, or a d72 chain with Oregon bar. You dont have to go to sears to get the replacement chain if its dull or breaks. However with all saws I buy, I never use the OEM supplied chain, to me, it dulls and stretches too early. I owned this saw for 6 months so far, I do tree cutting on the side, and so far I cut about 35 trees with it so far. It starts up fine, I see there is a lot of complants, about all the plastic. If you look at the other expensive brands, they are plastic too. Long gone are the days of a all metal saw. The recoil hasnt broke on me, (im thinking some of the people who said they broke broke them by pulling the rope too hard or too long.) As for the people who say it wouldnt start or ran like ****, more than likely its probally because of old fuel, fuel not being mixed properly etc. Which will cause it not likely too start. I got I say 100 hours on the saw and its been perfect.

Clutch is garbage!!!!! Buy the Extended Warranty

I've had this saw for about 9 months and after the first time I used it the clutch was burned up, after being told that it was going to take 2 weeks to fix I got it back about a month later. Started it up made sure it ran, which it did. Tried using it this last weekend, cut 3 branches none more than 3 inches in diameter, sure enough the clutch went out again. I grew up around Craftsman, that's all my dad ever bought and swore by it, however apparently they've gotten cheap on their power tools. If you decide to buy this product GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!!!! You'll need it and you'll definitely be using it. Thank you Sears for closing the repair center down by me also.

Craftsman problem`s

Well my first saw would not throttle up without bogging down and stalling. Took it back to Sear`s and they exchanged for a new saw. Impressed! Then the 2nd saw would not run but maybe 5 minutes without throwing the chain off. I believe the bar was bent or it was simply the wrong bar. I just returned this one to Sear`s. All this in 5 day`s. I am certain they will want me to pay for a new bar? Well the lesson you see is this: If it is too cheap to be true, it isn`t a good buy.

The brake broke within 20 mins. off use. Did not even get a chance to get it dirty. Had good power but they need to do something about the defect with the brake handle

A good combo

I very much like that this came with a case. Chainsaw has good balance and enough power to run the 20" chain. Bar oil does tend to slowly leak so be prepared to simply drain the oil tank back into a used oil container before storing the saw in it's case.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Buy This - Great Value

Great Sears Craftsman Value. This chainsaw is very powerful and well made for a consumer chain saw. Craftsman partners with major manufacturers to build great products ??this saw is no exception. This is a powerful saw with an included case. Take the time to learn how to use this project. I think some of the negative reviews come from folks who have not properly broken the engine in, or who have not read up on the starting procedures. Great saw. Powerful. Easy to start. Quality.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
