this saw saved me $300 just as good as the expensive brands
this saw takes a replacement chain Oregon d70 chain with the original craftsman bar, or a d72 chain with Oregon bar. You dont have to go to sears to get the replacement chain if its dull or breaks. However with all saws I buy, I never use the OEM supplied chain, to me, it dulls and stretches too early. I owned this saw for 6 months so far, I do tree cutting on the side, and so far I cut about 35 trees with it so far. It starts up fine, I see there is a lot of complants, about all the plastic. If you look at the other expensive brands, they are plastic too. Long gone are the days of a all metal saw. The recoil hasnt broke on me, (im thinking some of the people who said they broke broke them by pulling the rope too hard or too long.) As for the people who say it wouldnt start or ran like ****, more than likely its probally because of old fuel, fuel not being mixed properly etc. Which will cause it not likely too start. I got I say 100 hours on the saw and its been perfect.

Lousy Saw
Bought this saw 16 months ago ran it for 1 season and cut approximately 4 cords of wood and the pull cord broke. Sears wants a minimum $75 to look at it. Replaced the cord myself and now 4 more cords of wood later the spring on the pull start broke. Found a local repair shop who stated it will be a minimum of $150 to repair or I can take it to Sears for the minimum $75 plus parts and labor. So now I have a $200 paper weight. I refuse to pay $150 to fix this peice of junk! If you plan on using this saw for anything but minor limb triming don't buy it! The fact that no one will repair it speaks volumes of the quality! I will never buy another Craftsman product after this experience!

The first one's chain spun immediately upon engine start, which was bad news bears. However, when we went back to Sears and got a replacement (with no hassle in store), the second one rocked! I have a lot of sick/dead trees at my house due to ash bores, and the chainsaw rocks! My boyfriend has been using it to clear away the brush, so I have a clean and maintained property.

Great saw for the money

bought this saw because we need a bigger saw that the Poulan 16" we had. bought this one for 179.99 plus tax. We have since cut 30+ truck loads of wood with it (truck holds 1/2 cord) and all I had to do was replace the chain one time. And it comes with an oregon chain. It does like to use gas and chain oil. But I don't mind. For the power this saw has it handles everything I thrown at it. I plan on going back to sears this week and buying and second one. Me and my dad sell firewood, and we can not get over how good this saw is. Its better than our Stihl 028.

Will not start

Unit did not start. I live at 6000ft. Many adjustments required. Chain jumps off of bar no apparent reason yet found. Sears recommended replacement chain is a "70" the saw requires a "72", I have 2ea "70" chains for sale cheap. Be careful Sears is not.

A good saw at a reasonable price

This saw can tackle cutting large trees for a homeowner. Probably not as good as a commercial saw for continuous use but does a good job.

My Favorite New Power Tool

This chainsaw is built solid for any household needs. I had three pine large pine trees to take down, and this did the job quickly and easily. It?s easy to start, cuts great, and doesn?t quit in the middle of a job. The included case is great because I don?t have to worry about the kids getting hurt by it in the storage shed. One thing I will note is that they aren?t kidding when they say don?t let the chain hit dirt ? the dirt will destroy it! *Disclaimer: This review was written under the Sears Product Review Points Offer. Don't bother shopping for another chain saw

This chainsaw is a beast, My father went on and on about buying a Stihl. I didn't want to spend 600 dollars for comparable saw. I had to have a 20 inch bar, to run that bar you need at least 50cc. This saw out worked my fathers Stihl all day. We took down five large curly maple trees, a walnut and a huge pine. This saw went through all of them like butter. Spend 20 dollars and get the D70 Oregon chain. Buy two of em. I would give 4.5 stars for the provided chain being less than the level of chain needed on the saw....but I rounded up because I was so happy with it. Yes the saw is made by Husq.. And yes i recommend this to anyone who needs a saw. On the same tree at opposite ends to buck it up, i made two complete cuts for every one against a "Better" stihl saw. They both had brand new Oregon chains.Mine was throwing nice ribbons of wood while the Stihl was working twice as hard to get through the maple. I have felled maybe thirty large trees in my life and this saw made it the easiest job I have ever done with respect to tree removal. One tip is run Ethanol Free gas in it. The regular 10 percent ethanol seems to hold the saw back. I run all my gas equipment on ethanol free and seems to make a big difference

I would recommend this product to a friend.
