this saw saved me $300 just as good as the expensive brands
this saw takes a replacement chain Oregon d70 chain with the original craftsman bar, or a d72 chain with Oregon bar. You dont have to go to sears to get the replacement chain if its dull or breaks. However with all saws I buy, I never use the OEM supplied chain, to me, it dulls and stretches too early. I owned this saw for 6 months so far, I do tree cutting on the side, and so far I cut about 35 trees with it so far. It starts up fine, I see there is a lot of complants, about all the plastic. If you look at the other expensive brands, they are plastic too. Long gone are the days of a all metal saw. The recoil hasnt broke on me, (im thinking some of the people who said they broke broke them by pulling the rope too hard or too long.) As for the people who say it wouldnt start or ran like ****, more than likely its probally because of old fuel, fuel not being mixed properly etc. Which will cause it not likely too start. I got I say 100 hours on the saw and its been perfect.

Lousy Saw
Bought this saw 16 months ago ran it for 1 season and cut approximately 4 cords of wood and the pull cord broke. Sears wants a minimum $75 to look at it. Replaced the cord myself and now 4 more cords of wood later the spring on the pull start broke. Found a local repair shop who stated it will be a minimum of $150 to repair or I can take it to Sears for the minimum $75 plus parts and labor. So now I have a $200 paper weight. I refuse to pay $150 to fix this peice of junk! If you plan on using this saw for anything but minor limb triming don't buy it! The fact that no one will repair it speaks volumes of the quality! I will never buy another Craftsman product after this experience!

Bang for the buck

This saw has quite a few pros and a few cons, which is why I am giving it 4 stars. I have cut about 15 cords of wood with it and I do have to say that for under $200.00, you cant beat it. For starters, the saw had enough power to cut through most woods but isn't over kill. I have cat mainly fir and cedar and it powers through with ease. I have two issues with the saw overall. The first being that the chain the saw comes with, it probably the worst chain I have ever used. It dulls out too quickly for my likings. If you buy this saw, buy the Oregon replacement chain as well and save yourself the hassle. The second issue I have, it that the wood chips seem to pile up next to the clutch and will randomly stop the saw while you are cutting. I find this a pain in the neck, but the simple fix to this is to start it back up and give it full throttle until the chips are ejected. Other than that, I would recommend the saw to any weekend worrier looking to clear some land. On one last note, I have never had the pull string break when starting it from the ground like a chain saw should be started (as stated in other reviews) and it does leak a little bar oil, but very little (as brought up in other reviews).

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Chainsaw/Case included

The item was easy to start. So far has worked well on the small in size trees on our property. The salesperson who checked us out had us purchase some extra items for the chainsaw and it turned out to be very helpful.

Craftsman 20" 50cc Is A Great Buy

Bought this saw to replace a burned out Homelite. I can't explain the difference and I was amazed! The Craftsman saw has enough power to tackle anything I have put in front of it. Last weekend I cut down 6 trees and only has to add gas and chain oil. It started so easy and felt balanced through the entire day. The Homelite chain always jumped off and was a pia to crank. Will definitely be getting another Craftsman if the need arises.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

great saw

Got the saw yesterday to cut up a few tree that blew over into a family members yard. did what the instructions said to do for the first start and it started just fine. Worked for about 5 hours and got almost 3/4 of the work i have to do done and i was working around trees that the owner of the land thought were gone and saved all the trees. This saw outworked my 026 stihl that i have used for 3 years in every way. it is plenty powerful for what im doing and it is also alot safer than my stihl. over all the saw supprised me and when i need to replace this one i will be replaceing it with another Craftsman saw. Only problem i have is i need chaps to save my pants.

Child's Play

I assembled this chain saw immediately after bringing home from the store. Had absolutely no problems dropping a 120 foot white oak tree that need to be moved so I could build a pole barn. This machine cut the tree like a hot knife going through butter. An excellent addition to my Craftsman tool set.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

You get what you pay for

I bought this saw spur of the moment. I needed a new saw to help a friend out when a tree fell down on his house. I have used Husqvarna all of my life, so I was used to the quality that came with Husqvarna. That being said, for $200, this is a decent saw. For comparative purposes, a 50cc Husqvarna with a 20" bar without a case runs about $419. When I tried to run the saw for the first time, it was very very finicky when attempting to start. After playing with the choke for about 25 minutes, I finally got it to run. When the saw stayed running, it cut pretty good. I kept running into an issue where the saw would just die mid-cut. As irritating as that was, it usually started right back up with one pull. When we took a break, and came back I started to have some serious issues. The saw simply would not start back up. I fought with it for an hour, and it finally fired up. As irritating as that was, it cut just fine after that. I just went outside after it sat for about a day, and it fired right up. I would recommend this saw to anyone that needs a chainsaw but doesn't have the money to spring for a husky. If you have the extra $200 bucks, as with any other power tool, you get what you pay for.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
