Coming from a Husqvarna 18" 359 wouldn't call this a heavy duty saw but it does OK. If you are going to cut a lot of timber (especially hardwood) get yourself a bigger saw. If you are going to use it occasionally it's perfect especially for this price. It will get through a big tree it just takes a little longer than I am used to. It's a nice weight and I like the Simpul technology.
the chain saw is good, the chain gets dull easily, I replaced mine with an Oregon chain and it cuts much better. I had it 2 months and the blade wedged in a tree branch and the bar adjuster broke and now I need a new nut adjuster.Otherwise it runs fine.

this is a great item, and with a sale price and other promotions, I got a great deal. We had a tree fall and my husband was able to cut the rest of the tree down with no problem. I was going to get the 18 in and for 20 more dollars got the 20 inch. I was very powerful and got the job done great!
I bought this saw recently and have used it quite a bit since purchasing and I am here to tell you, that this saw is well worth the money. It has served me well and I suspect that, for the average homeowner, that it would be a reliable saw. Now, I can't speak for the owners who try to use this saw in a professional business but I suspect that they are the people who have left negative comments and I also hasten to add that they almost dissuaded me from buying. I did not want to spend a ton of money on a saw that I was only going to use around the house and this saw fits the bill nicely. The only word of caution I would give, and frankly this is just common sense, when you fill up the gas tank, fill up the Chain Bar Oil tank at the same time. They seem to deplete at about the same rate. Always wear eye and hearing protection as well as gloves. I am sure that you will have a lot of fun with this saw as I have.

This saw has quite a few pros and a few cons, which is why I am giving it 4 stars. I have cut about 15 cords of wood with it and I do have to say that for under $200.00, you cant beat it. For starters, the saw had enough power to cut through most woods but isn't over kill. I have cat mainly fir and cedar and it powers through with ease. I have two issues with the saw overall. The first being that the chain the saw comes with, it probably the worst chain I have ever used. It dulls out too quickly for my likings. If you buy this saw, buy the Oregon replacement chain as well and save yourself the hassle. The second issue I have, it that the wood chips seem to pile up next to the clutch and will randomly stop the saw while you are cutting. I find this a pain in the neck, but the simple fix to this is to start it back up and give it full throttle until the chips are ejected. Other than that, I would recommend the saw to any weekend worrier looking to clear some land. On one last note, I have never had the pull string break when starting it from the ground like a chain saw should be started (as stated in other reviews) and it does leak a little bar oil, but very little (as brought up in other reviews).
The item was easy to start. So far has worked well on the small in size trees on our property. The salesperson who checked us out had us purchase some extra items for the chainsaw and it turned out to be very helpful.
