this saw saved me $300 just as good as the expensive brands
this saw takes a replacement chain Oregon d70 chain with the original craftsman bar, or a d72 chain with Oregon bar. You dont have to go to sears to get the replacement chain if its dull or breaks. However with all saws I buy, I never use the OEM supplied chain, to me, it dulls and stretches too early. I owned this saw for 6 months so far, I do tree cutting on the side, and so far I cut about 35 trees with it so far. It starts up fine, I see there is a lot of complants, about all the plastic. If you look at the other expensive brands, they are plastic too. Long gone are the days of a all metal saw. The recoil hasnt broke on me, (im thinking some of the people who said they broke broke them by pulling the rope too hard or too long.) As for the people who say it wouldnt start or ran like ****, more than likely its probally because of old fuel, fuel not being mixed properly etc. Which will cause it not likely too start. I got I say 100 hours on the saw and its been perfect.

Lousy Saw
Bought this saw 16 months ago ran it for 1 season and cut approximately 4 cords of wood and the pull cord broke. Sears wants a minimum $75 to look at it. Replaced the cord myself and now 4 more cords of wood later the spring on the pull start broke. Found a local repair shop who stated it will be a minimum of $150 to repair or I can take it to Sears for the minimum $75 plus parts and labor. So now I have a $200 paper weight. I refuse to pay $150 to fix this peice of junk! If you plan on using this saw for anything but minor limb triming don't buy it! The fact that no one will repair it speaks volumes of the quality! I will never buy another Craftsman product after this experience!

Save your money

Please don't buy this saw it will only leave you in misery. We should've turned around and took it back to the store as soon as we pulled it out of the box we noticed that the handle wasn't attached because craftsman didn't drill a hole for the other side of the handle. The chainsaw was hard to start, wouldn't stay running. The chain was falling off when it's tight. Wouldn't idle, starter rope had a retainer screw striped out then starter rope wouldn't retract. Changed the number of drive lengths so, we were out a$130 for the old chains that we had from another craftsman. Buyer

does exactly what I wanted

I used it the day I got it to cut down low hanging branches at the house that I just bought. It worked just fine with no problems at all. I plan on using it to cut firewood for the winter.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great power, Ugly chain.

I have used it allot and it runs great. Really good power. But after the first use, the chain slipped. It is a low cost chain on a beast. So i replaced the chain with a better one, it again is running good.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice saw for the money

The saw has a small issue with leaking bar oil when it sits around, but considering it's price and the other nice features (20" bar, auto bar oiler, ease of start..) I don't have a big issue with it. Just gets the case a little messy at times.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Got a Lemon

From out of the box this chain saw was a problem. I have owned it less than 2 months with a second trip to Service Center. They claimed the fuel was contaminated. If it was it was a bad batch of new Craftsman fuel! I own many Sears products. However this one, I 'do not' recommend!

Great Price For The Saw

Used 2 tanks of fuel sofar cutting trees bigger then the bar. Decent power but you cant force it through the big stuff.. 16 to 18 inch pieces cut great. Looking at the muffler its from a major manufacturer would guess the saw is made for sears bye H

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Saw

Just bought this for my son and it works great. It's an extra bonus to have a case so you can easily store or transport it to different locations. Only bad thing so far is that the day I picked it up it came down another $10:(

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good Saw

Coming from a Husqvarna 18" 359 wouldn't call this a heavy duty saw but it does OK. If you are going to cut a lot of timber (especially hardwood) get yourself a bigger saw. If you are going to use it occasionally it's perfect especially for this price. It will get through a big tree it just takes a little longer than I am used to. It's a nice weight and I like the Simpul technology.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

works ok

the chain saw is good, the chain gets dull easily, I replaced mine with an Oregon chain and it cuts much better. I had it 2 months and the blade wedged in a tree branch and the bar adjuster broke and now I need a new nut adjuster.Otherwise it runs fine.
