The mower is decent but it also frustrating at times. My biggest complaint is the tires. They do not have good enough traction and are to narrow for this size mower. This results in them spinning tearing up the grass. Any minimal degree of moisture or incline accentuates the problem. My second complaint is it will not mow in reverse, which would be ok if it would automatically resent when you start forward again but it wont. My third complaint is neutral, if it has a setting I haven't found it yet. I would recommend this if you have a large yard, that is 100% flat, and completely dry all the time. If not buy a mower that gets better traction.
We had looked at mowers for months, but really hadn't found anything that had all we needed for a reasonable price. Once we found this mower on sale at Sears, we knew this was the mower for us. We have several acres so we needed a lot of power and a big mower deck. It is built very well and has a top of the line engine. We have not had any issues at all with this mower.
I waited to write his review till I had used this mower a few times. I have owned this mower for a little over 2 months and have been very happy with my purchase. I purchased this mower after wanting a zero turn mower for several years now. I mow over 3 acres and there are a lot of obstacles. I also own a 4 year old Craftsman 54" lawn tractor with a Kohler motor which has been doing a fine job for me but I decided to purchase this mower to compliment the tractor. I choose this model with the Kohler motor because I have had good luck with the Kohler motors over the years. I have not had much luck with the Briggs & Stratton motors. I had never owned or operated a zero turn mower before but within an hour I was whizzing along. This mower has cut down on the time by at least one third plus its fun to operate ! My property is not a manicured golf course. One of the considerations was the size of the front tires which were bigger than some of the other brands of the same size mower. So far I have been very happy with my purchase and look forward to many years of service from it. I priced out several other brands and purchased this one on sale and it was 200 to 350 dollars less than any of similar sized mowers from other manufacturers. Just a footnote but I am 6'6'' and this mowers seating is so much more comfortable than the tractors for me.
We are so happy with upgrading to a zero turn. So far no problems and our lawn looks amazing. It also cut our mowing time down almost in half. I feel much safer on this when I have to mow our sloped part of the yards.
This review is based upon 5 hours of mowing time. I have steep slopes, hills, uneven and bumpy ground and pond with some saturated lawn totaling about 2 acres of cutting area. Setup Issues: When received needed to grease, seemed to be very little to none. Wire to the seat was routed in front of the seat bracket and got pinched when the set was tilted forward. There is a long list of ?Cons? because I deem them important to know about regardless of how minor, so don?t take it as I am picking on the mower, so far I love the mower. Pros: good traction on slopes/hills, good quality cut, turning abilities, comfortable, replaced a craftsman 917.288580, YT4500, 06/2011 with this unit and runs circles around it including cut height; getting stuck on steep slopes; cut quality Cons: Muffler is close to freewheel levers, back of mower (chassis) is hot, when you are near an obstacle and the inner drive wheel loses traction, the mower brings you towards the obstacle (could be something dangerous like a drop off) - the nature of the beast, When moving the steering bars out of the rest position, the mower could start moving (no brakes available including the parking brake), oil filter location lends itself to oil spillage on the unit, headlight bulb fell out but within the lens cover, complete start code lost memory for the initial few starts, but then is now remembering the code for the past 20 starts, easily loses traction on saturated ground (prior tractor did a lot better in this scenario), I have a big belly (190 lbs all belly) and the steering bars touch me when in reverse, so make sure this is not an issue for your frame, I needed to attach the negative lead of the battery and found that only a box/open-end wrench would fit (adjustable would not do it) to tighten the battery lead bolt, learning curve from a typical steering wheel tractor - do a lot of practice in a more open area so it becomes more natural before you get into the tighter spots Overall, all the "Cons" are avoidable as issues if you keep them in mind and know how to avoid them.

I had my third mower delivered in less than two weeks and it had the same problem as the other two. When you put the mower in reverse the PTO disengages as it is supposed to. However, when the tractor is put in neutral or forward, the PTO will not re-engage as it is suppose to.

I have had this mower for less than two months and its a great mower, I have used it about 7 or 8 times and the Deck Belt broke. I contacted Sears and they informed me that the belts and blades were not covered by any warranty, so it's up to me to buy a $62.00 belt. I'm not happy.
