Strong
Pleasantly surprised as i had high expectations from a garden tractor. Ive used my 1999 lt1000 as a garden tractor without disappointment. Modifications and brackets for ground engaging equipment worked well but i felt like i was hurting it. Finally gave it to family and it still goes strong. The new g5500 has taken everything ive thrown at it, including pulling three sizable trees right outof the ground. Happy so far. Added a mulch plate, but the stock blades are not quite up to the task. Works but you have to slow down. The keyless start is cool, but i miss the simplicity of the key. Have to put the code in everytime you stop the mower and hop off even if its just for a second.

Front end is under designed for the sharp turn feature.
As you can imagine a sharp turn puts a lot more stress on the front axle, steering, wheels, etc. These parts on this tractor are not strong enough for the stress allowed by the tight turn feature. We have had 3 failures of parts of the front wheels and steering, and have replaced the axle, spindles, wheel bearings, and steering weldments are various times. We have had other equivalent Sears mowers, but without the tight turn feature, mowing the same yard for 30 years and have never had this problem. The spindle on this mower is the same size as a regular mower and it bends and makes the tire/wheels wobble. The only solution is to drive the mower much slower to avoid over stressing the parts and increase the mowing time. Your mowing time will increase about 1/3 with this mower.

24 hp garden mower

Sold, fast and easy to handle. Never had or used one before. I was surprised about how easy it is to use. I have several acres of hilly ground and it covers everything well.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Rip Off Alert !

shortly after I bought this mower the deck broke a weld . we called for repair and a tech came out after a week. He said it would need a new deck but he said to get the old one welded ( at my expense ) because it would happen again they were having issues with the welding . That was 3 weeks ago now there are saying another 2 weeks before the deck ships . Don't buy this mower you will regret it !

Keyless ignition is just anther thing that breaks!!!!!!!!

This tractor ran for 40 minutes cut out and did not want to restart for 2 days!!!!! The keyless ignition is a BAD thing! I'm very disappointed I expected better from Craftsman! Couldn't get anybody to deliver it and now can't get anybody to come and pick it up to return it! Very disappointed in Sears and the poor customer service and substandard product.

Craftsman 24HP 54" Tight Turn Garden Tractor

Bought new April 2014. The suspension on this is horrid. Most uncomfortable rider I've been on. Throws you around so bad & feels every tiny bump. Goes fast but you can't mow anywhere near fast because it will throw you out it's so rough riding. And it feels like it's lurching at higher speeds but determined it was because it was jerking me around so much, my foot was going up & down on gas pedal. Have to keep adjusting my foot back on the pedal because the ride is so rough it keeps coming off. Large deck makes mowing quicker but would never get another 54" deck because it keeps digging up my lawn at any place where there's a slight dip in the lawn because it's hitting the high spots with the deck edge. Now have lots of digits in my lawn every time I mow. It sucks down the gas which is likely due to the twin turbo's. It's fast & pretty but that's about the only positives I can come up with. Not impressed, especially for the price.

Replaced 2012 Deere D140 that had only 36 hours on it

I have only had this tractor for one weekend but have noticed some real nice things. Replace my 2012 Deere D140 with this. It has so much more power and SPEED that words just cant say enough. I have read other reviews that the steering wheel is off center. This is also true on mine, I am an Automotive A.S.E Certified Master Mechanic and did try to adjust but not possible since both the top and lower sprockets on steering shaft are not fine enough to get in center. I found on tractor forum that they sell adjustable drag links. At $80 each seems unfair to spend $160 after buying to get this corrected. This really troubled me until I mowed with it. Amazing tight turn ability and I now understand why the steering wheel is off. Front tires turn completely sideways so it just spins in place almost. I told my wife you can turn this around in the kitchen ! I am going to complain and see if I can get those drag links. Centering the steering wheel could easily be corrected if they would use a fine spline on the steering shaft to steering wheel. / At first I thought the ride was bouncier than my Deere The fact is it goes so fast that the bumps in my rear yard just feel harder. Once adjusted to the new power it rides fine ( just use to full pedal on the Deere and going nowhere) It does have blow out from the left side on mower deck / Never had that on the 48" Deere deck. / 54" is a large deck and I would think that is a long way for the grass to get up the bagger so the little specks blowing out left side really mean nothing. Will upgrade to hi-lift blades. The Seat is GREAT / The push button start works as advertised much like cars with push-button touch it once and electronics does the rest The mow in reverse feature is way better then the Deere / Craftsman push it once and it allows you to mow in reverse until your done. The Deere had to be held every-time / Bagger is easy to open and the bags slide off much better then the Deere did This tractor comes with the trans that really is strong and well worth the extra $1000 over the D140 Unfortunately had to sell my D140 for a $1000 loss from what I paid / Did not know anything about tractors in 2012 and today I know the trans is sooo important if you want to do anything more then mow a flat yard. This is the only Craftsman tractor with the Hydro Gear G730 Transmission and well worth the money !

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Vroom, Vroom, Cut

Love my yard tractor. Because I hate spending forever cutting the lawn. The good news, this cuts well. But it's still a decent amount of yearly maintenance like oil changes, and you should get the blade sharpened too.
