Easy on-off for wheel weights
I mounted the bolts for the wheel weights from the inside of the wheel and used an extra nut to fasten the bolts to the wheel. Then I fasten the weights on with additional nuts. This way, if I have to remove the weights I simply remove the outside nuts. I use them for blowing snow and they work great with chains!!!!

Wheel weight is for a GARDEN tractor, not a LAWN tractor
I mistakenly bought this wheel weight for my DYT 4000 Lawn tractor. It will only fit Garden tractors (which have bigger wheels). This is not very clear by the description. The store was no help when I called for assistance (prior to purchasing). I also tried the online chat with a rep...no help either. In the box, it recommends only attaching one weight (to the left side), saying attaching two will cause steering problems. Again, not clear on the website, so I bought two. I'm returning both and buying the smaller version (Quick-Secure). We'll see how it goes.

Excellent for tilling a garden

Needed this for traction when tilling a garden with a pull behind tiller, It worked like a dream. Excellent traction and did not foul up with dirt as it cleaned itself.

Craftsman 55 Pound Wheel Weight

This wheel weight is listed as being for the Craftsman 26 HP Tight Turn Garden Tractor (2 required, purchased separately).  While it does drop into place and the bolts align with the wheel, the wheel weight is pulled tight against the sidewall of the tire, thus wearing the sidewall every time the wheel turns.  Poor engineering.  The weight should be 4-bolted (not 2 bolted) to the wheel and a small space should exist between the weight and the tire.  I would not recommend this wieght set for this particular garden tractor.

A MUST for plowing with your Craftsman tractor

Bought these two years ago, figured I'd add my review to the masses! The first time I set these up on my tractor, they stayed attachted a total of 2 weeks, then the bolts started loosening and falling out. Solved the problem with LOC-TITE. Have not had them loosen up since, and I can remove them in a matter of minutes. They make a HUGE difference when plowing. Just add these, chains, and a blade and your good to go!

Just the ticket.

We purchased this weight set for an '01-vintage Murray garden tractor. They fit well and the mounting holes on the wheels line up exactly. The Murray has super lug, or Ag tires, used to haul small logs and rounds from the woodlot where conditions can get muddy. These weights make a world of difference out there, traction is much better.

A note on Ag tires: The weights fit well, no interference with the sidewalls. If your tractor is fitted with Ag tires, tire chains are not needed.

The advantage is straightforward - you want additional weight on the wheels, not on the axles.

As previous reviews have mentioned, these weights are rather easy to install. Note the "rather". They are heavy at 55# and you've got to support them while mounting. I set an 8x8 timber beside the wheels to support the weights and raised the tractor rear with a garage jack to the correct height. Then it's simply a matter of slipping the bolts through and tightening the nuts.

One kit bag was missing a mounting bolt; somehow it had been substituted with a smaller, shorter bolt that won't do. The weight is mounted with one bolt for now. I'll pick up another later when I'm in town.

Absolutely, this accessory is for garden tractors with 12" wheels. They're not for lawn tractors with smaller wheels. 5 stars for quality construction, appearance and easy to follow instructions.

Easy to install

I just purchased these for winter to help with dozing the snow. I put them on last weekend, along with the dozer blade, and thought I would try it all out before the snow got here. The weights were extremely easy to install, and didn't know this before, but you can actually stack two weights on one wheel if needed. I was very satisfied with the quality, and the amount of weight it added to the mower. I'm glad I got them. The weights should be used in conjunction with the tire chains I believe, as I don't think the weights would be enough with just the traction of the tires alone

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 55lb wheel weight is great and fits most 12" wheels.

This weight is a great value.  I believe this wheel weight will fit most of the standard 12" lawn/garden wheels used since the 1960's with 5 lug bolts.  I am uses it on a **********. Dont know if it will fit the newer wheels with 4 lug bolts.

This wheel weight was more versatile in application than the poor description available on the web site. It is well made and I expect to use it for a lifetime as long as the plastic cover is not cracked which will allow the cement inside to crack when it freezes.  If it gets water inside and freezes it will eventually crack the outer case and the weight falls apart.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Weights fit my 12" wheels perfectly and seem to do the job.

These weights are specific for 12" wheels. They installed easily. They look good too. I saw some other weights on a different tractor in the store and they looked 'very obvious'. These kinda blend in with the wheel. They seem to give the extra traction needed. Sears was great with the sale price PLUS the extra 10% for 'Family & Friends' which made the price SUPER.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
