Craftsman  58 pc. Cutting and Sanding Set

great gift at a great price!

Love it. These attachments work great with my Craftsman hand router. We use the hand router all the time, because you can get into areas that are hard to reach with big equipment. We have used these sanding attachments to sand the inside of latch holes when we put new door handles on our doors. Sometimes the new handles don't fit right and just needs a little tweaking that can be easily done with the hand router. We have also used it to smooth down the edges on our deck, because it's much more faster than using a hand sander.

I've been working with my hands all my life but I have never owned a Rotary Tool before. A few months ago, my father passed away and I received his toolbox filled with what tools he had left. Most of his tool collection was sold at auction when he moved into a patio homes a couple of years ago.

I really don;t need to use Dad's tools, since most of them are basic wrenches and screwdrivers and I already complete sets of both. I want to preserve them however as a keepsake. My plan is to clean all of the tools up to as good of a condition as possible and display them in a wall cabinet, under glass doors, in my workshop.

Unfortunately Dad didn't keep as good of condition of his tools in his later years as he once did. Many of them had been allowed to get rusted and some were ever covered with drywall mud or concrete or something. I needed something other than my trusty wire-brush to clean up these puppies.

I purchased this rotary tool kit from a sale online to help with this chore. I also ordered all four of the kits that contain all of the necessary cut-off wheels, brushes, buffing pads and sanding drums. Since I had never used a rotary tool before, I wasn't sure what accessaries I would need and I wanted to make certain I had the appropriate bit for any eventuality.

I love this little guy! Unlike many power tools, the learning curve was very short. i plugged it in an within minutes I was making a real difference in the condition of Dad's tools. Perhaps the most useful application I have found so far involves polishing the scratches and tarnish off of his Craftsman Screwdrivers. I simply mount the screwdrive in my Craftsman 5" Bench Vise, apply a small amount of the supplied polishing compound and buff out the length of the shaft with the cone shaped buffing pad. i start off with one of the slower speeds until the buffing compound hazes over, then I gradually mover up to higher speeds. Once done, I wipe down the tool with a soft rag and it has regained it's original luster.

The craftsman 58pc cutting and sanding set is good. The money you would spend piecing this kit together separately would cost close to double. The only thing that I noticed is that the cutting wheels were thinner than I have ever seen. Even though they were small they ended up doing a pretty good job so I would purchase this product again and recommend it to others.  

I recently received a Craftsman Rotary Tool as a gift. I had no attachments for it, so I started off with this set. It had all I needed to get working. In no time I was sanding wood, plastic, and cutting into various plastics. Very nice set, and not a bad price either.
