I've been using a 6 gallon Shop Vac as a primary vacuum in my home for 5 years. When it died last weekend I went out a bought another 6 gallon. This newer version has significantly reduced power compared to the previous one. Peak H.P. has dropped from 3 to 2.5 and the corresponding blowing velocity has dropped from 130mph to 85mph. Sears has compensated for the reduction in power by narrowing diameter of the hose and attachments in an attempt to maintain an acceptable level of suction.
I'm very dissappointed. This vacuum simply doesn't have anywhere near the power that their version of 5 years ago had, or that I expect from a 6 gal Sears Shop Vac. In fact, it's only a notch or two above a cheap handheld.
Sears, you have cheapened this product beyond acceptable limits. This vac simply doesn't do the job.
Just to top things off Sears also seems to have cut more corners in the quality and quantity of attachments that come with the vac.

i love the longer cord @ hose, it also saves time swepping the shop by blowing the leaves out the door easy set up and tear down i love it when you have a small shop like i do this is the one

The vacuum has plenty of power, and is versatile with the attachments directly out of the box. The only drawback is that a wet filter is not offered with the vacuum, you have to purchase this separately. My wife thinks that the wand attachment for floors is flimsy. I haven't had any problem though.

Not worth the money! Two major problems. (1) The pick up hose is like dealing with a Boaconstrictor, it won't staighten out and the attatchments fall off the hose. (2) there are handheld vacs that will run circles around this unit as far as suction. Save your money and buy a different brand of 6 gal. vac.

How do reviewers have such different experiences with the same product? Maybe I got a lemon. It's a cheap shopvac, so my expectations were limited, but I went cheap because I only needed a low capacity vacuum (6 gallons), and want it for more for emergencies than for any current or frequent need. After the bad storm here in NY, I bought this to clean up a few puddles in my basement. I'm talking 1/2" in the deepest spots, and this vacuum couldn't do it. I returned it immediately. On the plus side for Sears, they took it back no questions asked.

good for the price but no wet nozzle pickup and worse the wheels got stuck in the spaces on my deck.I use the blower to clean my decks of leaves once a week and the thin wheels fall in the cracks.frustrating! put casters on it.

We have not used it for a wet vac yet but have used it several times for sweeping the interior of our cars. Also it is very handy for clean up in the garage after all sorts of dirty jobs. This is the most powerful shop vac we have ever owned.
