A-1 logsplitter! An easy starting fine machine. Easy to use, easy to tow. The capability and ease of switching from horizontal to verticle is very helpful. It has easy access to the lever which allows easy single man operation and a quick end to the job. P.S. Its really fast when my wife runs the lever!

Works good. I do not like how easy the fenders break. They are made flimsy. The side catchers that stop the wood from falling, break real easy as well. Overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

Very good splitter at a good price, split every thing I had and most of it was big yellow birch and rock maple,a lot of it was 22 to 24 in across .Complete with fluids and starts on the first pull.

I purchased the 27 ton log splitter for a couple of reasons. First being I soley heat my home with wood. Second reason is to save time. The 27 ton Craftsman model had a few plus's to go along with it. Sears did not charge shipping costs. It was turn key in the sense the fluids were included. Then the fact it was on sale, saving me over $300 hundred less then the other model I was looking at. After looking at several differen't log splitters for a year. My choice boiled down to this one. The "power" of the unit was shown on the first use. Red Oak rounds I split are over 24" in diamitter. The wedge hit the log and paused for one second then the secondary on the pump kicked in. The sweet sound of splitting wood echoed in my backyard. Used it for over an hour to get the feel of operation the machine has. Before I knew it there was more then a half a cord of split wood to stack. Really like the auto return feature. It saves time has you get the next log. The only couple of cons are the gas tank, also the trailer pin to secure the stand leg. So far my new log splitter is showing NO signs of leaking any fluids. Starts on the first pull. It's quiet not disturbing my neighbors. The manual stated with proper up keep and checking the fluid regularly. The 27 ton log splitter will earn its keep for over seven years before a major overhual may be in the cards? Only time will tell if this will be the case. So far I am totaly happy with the purchase. It sure beats a splitting maul and a wedge.

I purchased this splitter because our property is covered with timber. My honey made sure everything was set correctly and initially had it set up in the vertical position. Good for him uncomfortable for me. He used the chainsaw and I used the splitter. Works perfectly. No leaks, no troubles no issues. Pull start is a cinch and in the horizontal position I could split wood all day. Meterman came by and wanted to know what it would take to get his Mrs. to help.....I told him to have her buy this splitter. Thank you Sears and Craftsman.....we will get years of use I am sure.

my wife like to buy things and bought this when we were redoing our yard. I think it is a bit expensive and unless you use it often, i would probably not have boughten this. It would be more practical to rent it or if you have a few jobs, just hire someone to do it. it is really powerful though and is fairly easy to use for the handymen out there.

I have been watching splitter prices for almost a year now. I was real close to buying one from the competition when Sears had a sale. The Sears splitter beat the competition in the following areas: overall price, tonnage, free shipping (almost a $200 savings), free assembly (time savings), fluids included (about a $50 savings). Finally, I saved an extra 10% by using my Sears card. My final price is a terrific value. The splitter starts first pull, every time. It splits anything I put on it. The side racks are a big help in keeping split logs from falling to the ground. I like that the hydraulic hoses are wrapped for abrasion protection. I would prefer the splitter to be about 12" higher in the horizontal position. I'm 6'5" and have to bend over slightly during operation. After a while it takes a toll on my back. I agree with others that the fuel tank could be bigger. I too am also a bit concerned about the pump being mounted so low because I'll be pulling the splitter into the woods with an ATV. I may manufacture a guard to protect it. Overall, this machine is an excellent value. I was prepared to assemble it like the owners manual indicated you had to do but was pleasantly surprised when the Sears associate brought out a fully assembled splitter.

This is a great log splitter. Starts easy and goes until it runs out of gas. A larger tank would be nice... I have been splitting red oak with it and I am impressed by its performance. In the past I would rent a splitter and the rush to get it back in time. Now I can take my time and do it right. The stand can be a pain. It should have a quick way to release it and then lock it back into position. No big deal though.

This is the second log splitter Ive owned in the past 20 years. I shopped ***** and ********** and chose to buy at my hometown Sears! Great service, before and after the sale! Only problem was a leak in one tire. I called the store and spoke to my salesman "Nick". I was willing to remove the wheel and bring it in to have it fixed or replaced, but he made sure that a service tech came to my home. They were there the following day and had me up and going in no time! That's something you will NEVER get at any of the discount home stores.. So far, this splitter has taken anything I can roll to it! 27 tons and a B&S motor.. Im 100% satisfied with the splitter and my local Sears. I have spent a lot of $$$ at this store and I plan to continue. It's a smaller Sears (privately owned) and they always treat you well! Almost everything in my garage says Craftsman and that means quality to me. Way to go Grants Pass Oregon Sears! Ill be buying that riding mower very soon!
