2 acres & a mule
I started clearing a site of over 2 acres with a hand held gas powered string trimmer. It was taking forever. I noted this product on line and compared it to the DR trimmer, it is very similar. The set up takes no time and with in minutes of opening the box I was off and running. The machine is a weed eating devil. I completed cleaning the site in just over 2 days, never working more than 4 hours at a time. It is best to wear face and hearing protection when operating this machine, stuff flys every where. I like the ease in changing the string lines. A simple measure, cut, and install. No reel or drum to worry about. This thing paid for itself the first time I used it. I'd highly recommend it to anyone with an acre or more to maintain. Two things it won't cut thru are Gambel Oak Thickets and Yucca plants, other than those it takes everything down. Nice machine.

Recently purchased

This item would work well on very level ground. After the first use, it would not shut off..had to stop it by pulling off the spark plug wire. I questioned the local dealer where I purchased it. He was not very helpful. I even purchased the extended warranty and he still was not concerned. If you will be using this on a hillside or rough terrian, don't bother buying it.

Wheels fell off during first use.

During first use - rear wheels fell off - I was able to locate the parts to fix problem. I have been purchasing Sears tools and lawn equipment for years - I feel the quality of products is no longer there.

Don't you people know the difference between HP and Torque

I have 2 of these weed eaters purchased from sears and one is a 5.75 HORSE POWER and the other is A 6.75 HORSE POWER plainly written on the engine. .That is BS about 6.75 torque Those engines do not have any where near 6.75 LBS of torque I love my weed eaters

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good for the price

Bought this 2 years ago and it works very well. Does a great job under trees and in the edge of my property along a woodland. Obviously, it does not cut to the ground like a weed whacker, so it you have thicker weeds you may find stubs, and it will not get as clean along a fence as you'd like ( the DR model does slip at an angle). I use the 155 line. Changing the line is a breeze! My only complaint is that the cut off switch, after 2 years, no longer works, so to turn the unit off I have to tip it back and let the gas run back to the tank. Other than that, I think it is a good machine for the money.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Sears push weedeater ...

Wheels too small ... for only $2-$3 more wheels could have been 3'' more in diameter .. and a lot easier to push ... also string head  ... one part moves and the other does not ... the one that does not is the part that slides along the ground ... by NOT moving, it is VERY hard to push ... have to push with head NOT touching the ground. Maybe you should have an average joe try out your equipment before mass production starts ... very few enginers use a weedeater or other equipment ... they just design then on a computer ... with lowest cost first priority ... had a DR before ... no comparison ... but for about $10 more in production  cost ... you could have had a winner.

Poorly designed, difficult to use

We thought this would be ideal for our rather large weedy areas, and if used on extremely level ground in one linear direction only, it is adequate.  If the ground is sloped to any degree wheatsoever, however, the poorly-designed wheels and high center of gravity make it tip over...not just lean, but tip over onto its side...at the slightest inclination off vertical.  Furthermore, the oil filler/dip stick is difficult to replace correctly and comes loose on shrubbery, spraying the area and the user with hot oil.

The tires also rub on the rear of the cover that covers the turning disc and lines.

All in all, this is a poorly designed, poory conceived and shoddily made device.  Get something else, or be prepared for great aggravatgion and frustration.

Built by Husqvarna

Purchased the Husqvarna a few days. After looking at the two, they are identical shy of colour. So far I have been really impressed. Tears through all the weeds you can put through with the exception of thicker, solid weeds such as Burdock. Won't replace a blade on a weedeater, so if that is what you typically need for your clearing, then this unit would not likely work. I really like the simple mechanism for height adjustment. I tend to leave it on the lowest setting so I can cut down to the ground if I want. I also like how quiet it is for a Briggs engine, my least favourite engine in the past. I showed it to my neighbour and he said he had used a walk behind line trimmer, but a different brand. He warned my to wear lots of protective clothing because the thing threw so much debris. I first used it in sandals and shorts. I eventually put some hikers on, because I couldn't stand the feeling of the weeds 'squishing' under my bare feet lol. The guard on this unit is great. Lastly, didn't see it mentioned anywhere but was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that the spring loaded handle only is to engage the 'blade'. When the handle is released, the engine keeps running. Functions like a blade break on a high end mower.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
