I have loads of other Craftsman tools and never had anything as poor as these. The bit tip metal is VERY soft....not sure why, as their regular torx bits are fine. (mine bent/stripped when tightening a THREE ft/lb screw into plastic carrier for a mass-airflow sensor!! I usually associate Craftsman tools with high quality and strength; not sure what happened with these. Sounds like many have had similar results.
Was excited to rcv this set by UPS. Unfortunately, the shiny chrome base engraved T50 was mated with a hex bit. Other than that, the set works great for opening small appliances. Haven't used it on the car yet as I have no need to. Where are these things made anyway?
Bought the tools for $15 per set. Got a second for a gift idea later. Great deal. Seem to be of good quality so far. I've used them occasionally. I work on engines as a hobby, and I'm happy with them.
Like the heading states, these tools are good quality, but only if you can find old stock. I was with a friend doing some volunteer work putting playground equipment together. He had just purchased these and he was excited to use them, so we were using his tools at the time, and specifically the largest bit in this set (a T-50). To tighten everything we were using a 7? slide bar handle (Craftsman #04428) and a combination wrench. While tightening, the base of the socket split. There was a tear in the metal that was a quarter to a half inch long. When we stopped in amazement to look at the tool, we saw the problem: Made in China. Soft metal was the culprit. We went to a Sears store and found more of the same, and then went to a Sears Outlet where we found a set of these that were made in the USA. We went back to where we were volunteering, and the new sockets lasted the rest of the weekend with no problems. One thing I can say positive about the Chinese made sockets is the chrome had a better luster than the American made ones. Unfortunately, it seems as if Sears/Craftsman did nothing more than put lipstick on a pig with those things. They really were terrible. *Disclaimer: This review was written under the Sears Product Review Points Offer. A reward may have been provided in return for a review. I love Craftsman tools! They are what I buy exclusively. The return policy is bar none the best in the industry. Every few years I return a few rusty or old tools and its so easy. I love how convenient and simple they make this process. It's one of the last great customer service transactions left.
I am never disappointed in the quality of Craftsman tools. They always get the job done. These torx bits were a little expensive (hence the 3 stars) but I needed them and so I bit the bullet. I prefer these to the screwdriver bit set as this comes with a #45 and #50 which you can't find with the screwdriver set, and it is helpful to be able to slap extensions on your ratchet (which is more difficult with the screwdriver set).
Excelletn and High quality products that mate perfectly to craftsman rachets. All Sizes necessary for multiple projects around the house and in the garage. Fits many industry standardized Torx bit sizes for various project scales, big and small.

Thank goodness these have a lifetime warranty! Using one of the bits to remove and reinstall a gas valve, it broke. It seems the material used for the bits is to brittle because the tip snapped with very little torque being applied. I bought these to save myself a 40 mile roudtrip drive home to get my Cornwell bits. Needless to say, I made the drive to get my good tamper proof bits so I could get the the valve back together and finish the job.
