The T-40 Torx broke the first time I used it. It snapped a 1/4" from the tip. Cheap steel. Not automotive grade quality.

The headline says it all. Tamper proof that fits it. I wish it were an 8 or 9 piece, but such is life.

Poor performance as the bits do not stay in the sockets! Will be trading them off on the big white & truck!! SORRY CRAFTSMAN!

These tips will break under moderate load, particularly the small sizes. If you need torx tips for removing automotive fasteners that have been thread locked, you'll likely need to find Heavy Duty Removal rated tips. I truly like that most Craftsman hand tools are Made In USA, however these particular tips don't hold up to removing siezed automotive fasteners.

I have loads of other Craftsman tools and never had anything as poor as these. The bit tip metal is VERY soft....not sure why, as their regular torx bits are fine. (mine bent/stripped when tightening a THREE ft/lb screw into plastic carrier for a mass-airflow sensor!! I usually associate Craftsman tools with high quality and strength; not sure what happened with these. Sounds like many have had similar results.

Bought these because of the warranty, but they are soft and strip out easily. Will probably be buying Duralast from now on. Autozone stores are more plentiful, and I just read that Sears is closing 120 Sears and Kmart stores due to low sales. The owner at the Sears Hometown store kinda gave me a hard time about replacing them. He said we are not supposed to replace these unless they are broken. I said well they are stripped out. I can't use it! He reluctanly replaced it.

I recently purchased this set of torx bits to change the front brake rotors on a mini-van. On this American made (at least American company) van, the rotors have three torx head screws that fix the rotors in place. So, while preventing the rotor from turning with one hand (using breaker bar between two wheel lugs) - I was able to turn the T-40 torx bit to loosen the screws. The first screw came out without much difficulty. When I turned the 3/8 ratchet on the second screw the torx bit just twisted. There is no way that the bit should fail like that with me using one hand on a 3/8" standard ratchet. I'm reasonably strong, but no Charles Atlas. I purchased another T-40 from the nearby hardware store (store brand) and finished the job. I still haven't taken the set back, but I'll take the time to post this to warn others. Very disappointing. I have a LOT of Craftsman tools and have gotten good service out of nearly all of them. These torx bits are a real shock. I hope it's a limited defect in a small percentage - but the one bit I used from the one set that I bought, was junk.

I love having these around when a Torx screwdriver can not be used. In some applications, I can get more torque on a socket bit than a screwdriver. These are not used often, but they do give me one more option to solve or repair what I am working on. Covered by a lifetime warranty.

I broke 2, T45 torx bits today! And, I was using them as designed, the cheap metal sheared right off. This product a complete failure. I always buy Craftsman when its available. Someone from quality and control and engineering need to look into this product before someone sues for broken fingers. FYI: I was trying to use this tool to remove the torx bolts that hold the roll bar on my Jeep...
