Backwall is perfect for my needs

Don't know what all the wah-wah is all about.

First, got it for a great price!

Second, boxing/padding could not have been better.

Third, it fit just as it should.

Finally, what's all the fuss about directions?

What man ever reads directions?!

Over all great, finished look

Awesome. Makes the work bench awesome. Who ever wrote the directions is an idiot though. Obviously your going to build a work bench FIRST, well it tells you to mount the counter top. First thing in the back walls directios tells you to take it off. Just lack of planning that a simple asterick could solve... annoyed me but got over it as soon as I was done. Light fits very nice, hoping the little hooks that hold it to the top will work for a long time, but simple fix if not. Dont like the white Cable so why would I run it to the power strip to activate the light ? The light does not have a swtich, I would have even been happy with a pull chain. Fixed that and hid a 1 gang box with a black decora switch and black switch plate double sided taped under the right side... Problem solved. At first I wish i had more room, but then realized it was new so I wanted to hang everything lol. Thats what I do have a tool box for. Over all great product im just picky :-)

I would recommend this product to a friend.

************READ BEFORE ASSEMBLY***********

Overall the product is average. ONLY ASSEMBLE workbench frame. DO NOT PUT workbench TOP ON until you have assembled the frame and attached the BACKWALL.

If you purchased SS top it will not fit properly.

You will be missing a Black locking nut. (error on craftsman part) *directions call for 7 nuts but you are only given 6 nuts per the parts count diagram.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Workbench, Backwall, SS Top and Tool Drawers: Tips

I bought 6' workbench frame, stainless steel (SS) top, backwall and tool drawers. My advice is to assemble the frame first, and don't install top until the backwall is attached with screws FINGER TIGHT. If you wrench tighten nuts and bolts, the SS top will probably not fit between the flanges of the backwall. When finger tight, there is just enough space in the bolt holes to allow the backwall to expand wide enough for top to fit between the ends. Everything went together well, packaged fine, and once finished, it feels sturdy and looks great. Disappointing that the light has no On/Off switch! You have to plug/unplug each time for use - stupid! You could plug into the supplied power strip and use its on/off switch, but that would cut power to all outlets - not ideal if you want to keep cordless drill batteries and other tools charged. The SS top has very sharp, unfinished edges so file/sand down to avoid cutting your hands.

No light switch

The work bench base and the butcher block top make this a nice addition to your dream garage, but they fell short with this backwall. When you open the box there is another box containing the lamp assembly which is a cheap $10 addition off a Walmart shelf. (I know because I saw it when buying the bulbs for the unit). The biggest issue with it is the lack of a light switch. This forces you to use a slot on the power strip they provide. Instead of being able to run the light cord neatly behind the backwall, you have to let it hang down across the front. Even then you would have to turn off the power strip which isn't an option if you are charging batteries, or you have to unplug it. This can all be prevented with a $2 switch that I now have to buy and install myself.

Read the full description

I will give this a an average rating just so my rating doesn't skew the averages since I didn't actually use this item. Just take care when you buy this backwall and don't assume that just because you have a Sears 8' workbench it will work with it. I didn't look closely enough at the detailed description and so will be carrying mine back. Apparently this back works only with the 8' workbench FRAME sold by Sears - NOT the 8' workbench.

Good backwall!

Solid once you figure out the appropriate screws to use. Instructions could be better by having lettered bags with screws. Need 2 people to assemble.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Nice backwall for the price.

I purchased the workbench frame, Butcher block top, and back wall. The frame does come completely dissembled in the box. Slight small damage to one of the outside side pieces, but on the inside and was able to bend it back. No big deal breaker for me. Missing about 2-3 screws for the wood top surface. *************Lights: Does not come with lights, you need to purchase them seprate, BUT it does tell you on the light box with type of lights you need. Maybe people need to read the box. It takes T8 48" 32watt lights two of them.****************** Directions: **** The instructions are good ?IF? you are ONLY putting together just the frame and wood top ?ONLY? If you are adding the back-wall, the instructions say nothing about the installation of the back wall. The instructions for the workbench frame and wood top only are good ONLY by themselves. I put the workbench in this order, Frame, top then back wall. The instructions for the frame do tell you to install the top and back-splash and you are done. Then I opened the box for the back wall only to find out it tells you to remove the top, set it aside and remove the back-splash. Then, remove all of the bolts form the back to the bracing and frame to install the two back wall posts to hold the back wall pegboard and light bar. NOTE to Sears/Craftsman: Please place a ?STOP? note in the Workbench frame instructions just before the installation of the top surface to inform the customer that if he/she purchased the optional back-wall to start that installation of the back-wall before the installation of the top wood surface. It was a pain to unscrew the top, which the 8? wood butch block top is pretty heavy. OR place those back-wall instructions were need be, BUT please make a note in the instructions. My only complaint is the instructions and some of the bolts/screws were missing. OVERALL: I give is 4 stars. Because, once all put together, this is a very much sold workbench, especially if you can catch Sears/Craftsman on sale as I did for the price and I almost bought two of them at the same time. I would still recommend this to friends and family and also inform them of the proper steps that the instructions don?t tell you as mentioned above.
